Decent Camera for moving shots

Hi all,

Looking for a decent camera to take moving shots (soccer match). Not looking to spend a lot, do not need excellent quality just decent enough that I can upload videos and photos to youtube/facebook and it doesnt look like ive been using my Iphone.

Please not, most photos will be taken at night.
Any help appreciated (happy to buy second hand for cheaper!)

Buy an entry level DSLR and invest in a nice fast lens - each brand is all the same these days with technology being as awesome as it is.
Wanting to both shoot fast moving sport AND in low light - I'm sorry but there's nothing cheap that will be any good IMO.

    • Sorry have to agree with this… night sports photography is one of the toughest things to shot properly.. the suggestion above would be your best option, Fast lens (i.e 50mm f1.8 lens is ok and most affordable)

But since you already have an iphone I would suspect there is an app that controls shutter speed of the camera so you can have your best chance of getting a photo, I would suggest finding it and set a shutter speed of 1/200 to 1/400 to freeze the image. cheapest option but i dont know if it would be able enough light through to the sensor. anyways give it a shot first before buying something you will regret and have no interest in.
In a intro photo course I did, i met a father who spent almost $2000 on a lens for his son's AFL match but had no clue how to use the camera.. I felt like asking his to give it to me because I knew it would be collecting dusk by the end of the week…

      • every day I come across stories like that father. i bet he made a 'Dad's Photography' facebook page before he even unboxed the camera too :/

  • Thanks for the replies guys.
To be honest, I know NOTHING about cameras and dont plan to, just need something that I can take basic shots that come out okay and not fuzzled.
Do I have to buy a DSLR or is there a point and shoot camera that is cheaper, and although might not be great quality, is decent?
