Anyone been on a flight booked through Expedia Japan yet?

Hi All,
After discovering the wonderful prices that can be sourced from Expedia Japan thanks to a fellow OzBargainer's post a few weeks ago, I noticed that there were a few issues with the japanese address (i.e. it comes up blank but when invoice is issued the address is all in japanese). Just wondering if anyone's booked through Expedia Japan before that has actually been on their flight? Were there any issues? I would love to book our tickets but just a little worried that this might be a problem!

Cheers

  • I booked a Jetstar flight for July and was sent a Jetstar reference number which you can just enter on the jetstar site and all the details are there.

  • so did you get a funny japanese residential addresss on your emailed invoice?

  • I booked a jetstar flight to Brisbane through expedia.jp.
I flew 2 weeks ago. No dramas.

I am getting emails from expedia in japaneese though. Small price to pay for the financial saving.

  • oh thanks Morahan1!

Thats a relief. Based on that feedback i feel a bit better going ahead to book it now :-)

    Thanks heaps!!

  • Are flights from Sydney to tokyo cheaper using exepdia.jp? I plan on going first week of Feb and I am wondering if I should book now or wait for sales? I read in a forum somewhere that sales for Japan usually come out Oct/Nov but I am worried it wont be for the travel dates I need.

  • Booked Gold Coast to Sydney for $100 return a few weeks ago. No problems.

  • Fabulous to hear, thanks Atonz00!

Booked for adelaide in one weeks time, fingers crossed.

Haven't decided whether I need checked baggage..I can buy it online (15kg 1750 yen iirc) until check in opens, right? So basically 24 hours before flight departure time?

  • Hi Frantic,

Can you just log onto the australian jetstar website to buy your luggage requirements or must this be done through expedia japan?

    • +1

In the Itinery Email there is a link to add baggage and it points me to this page:

      https://book.jetstar.com/DeeplinkChangeItinerary.aspx#baggag…

And everything is listed in Yen

I think I will buy 15kg so if anyone knows how to do it in AUD please speak up :)

      • Hmmm, I just checked Jetstar Australia's website and it looks like their baggage fees are slightly cheaper at $15.50 for 15kg, $17 for 20kg, $23 for 25kgs etc….I wonder once you have a booking reference number whether you can use that to log onto the australian jetstar website to buy your luggage requirements?

I booked my tickets with 0 baggage and got the confirmation/booking reference number. I then just logged onto jetstar.com.au and changed the booking. just had to pay the baggage fee.

        • Thanks, but jetstar.com.au still shows baggage fees in Yen for me :(

        • about 100yen to $1
is there a currency option on the page?

        • yep works out to about $18.69 (plus 3% with my Mastercard) for 15kg.. there is no option to change currency despite being on jetstar.com/au

        • yeah can't remember if it was in yen for me or not. but after living in Japan for 4 years i'm bi-currencial

    • You can PRINT boarding passes 2 weeks out from the flight???

      • My bad. The booking/check in docs.

    • Coolangatta to Korce (Albania - ALK) ;-)
      Even Cooler than AKL :-)

  • Very cool.
NZ is domestic ? Nice if Bali or Phuket were also.

    • didn't check Bali or Phuket - do they work?.
I just happened to whack in NZ on a whim and ka-ching- bought tickets.

  • I've booked a GC - Sydney return at the end of June. No issues.

Friend of mine was so excited about it, booked a return trip to Cairns last week. Absolutely no issues at all.

  • Anyone know what the cutoff for buying baggage online and not getting slugged at the airport is?

    • time frame wise? I'd assume that you can arrive at the airport, log on to the airline booking/reservation system, add your baggage and then go to the check in counter.

      • yep, what I thought thx

Bought ADL-MEL-ADL tickets for next week. 3 tickets for 300AUD.
    Saved about 40%

  • Yep we went ahead and bought our tickets as well and received all the jetstar paperwork ok. Only thing we regret is ummming and ahhhing about it for so long because by the time we actually went to buy it, the AUD dollar had gone down and we ended up paying more for our tickets than say 2mths ago. Oh well, still cheaper than Jetstar direct i guess :-)

  • looks like expedia japan has removed jetstar flights?

    • nah, I can still see them…just looked 5mins ago.

  • cool cheers me too now - last night they werent there (i tried brasil site too) and diff dates,

  • Travelled without any problems ADL-MEL
Didn't opt for any checked in luggage.
On the jetstar website, when I checked my trip all the options like travel insurance, checked in luggage, etc were in Yen.

Just booked a return flight from MEL-> Gold Coast for the olds. 2 return flights came to $309 AUD (inc CC fee).
Freaking bargain. Checked on Jetstar locally they wanted $560~ and Virgin was $510.
    Expedia.jp FTW!

Cheers to the op and others who have made me aware of Expedia.jp's great prices!

    :)

  • Went to Melbourne for the football — no problems at all. About 45% of the price of normal Jetstar prices.
One question though, does anyone know where to change your home address on the site? Thanks as the default is in Japan somewhere and I had to ring Jetstar to change it.

  • Damn.. No more cheap ADL-MEL fares for August.. Must of changed this a day or two cos checked last week and thought sweet return for 60 odd bucks..

Same flights expedia japan says 23700yen (xe.com says thats around $271)

Still not a bad saving, definitely cheaper

    • yep, was saved by expedia.jp early last month as they had one cheap flight on the day I had to leave for Melb

    • i tried syd-adl, but the price was the same as jetstar's website. Should have bought my ticket earlier
