Treadmill for under $400

Is there such a thing as a good, safe and motorised treadmill for under $400?

Its for my grandpa. He loves a morning run but its getting too cold now.

  • Gran weighs 70 kg
  • runs for 35- 60 mins per day. Max speed is 13 km/hr
  • He's 170 cm tall
  • He has limited space. So would be good if the treadmill can be folded.
  • Neither he nor I are very good at assembling stuff.
  • would be good if item can be delivered.

The Action T12 treadmill is advertised for $278 and the T14 for $398 on the Big w catalogue but its in store only. I've tried both Southland and parkmore and they don't have stock.

Have a look on eBay, people buy these things and then never use them. You may be able to get something much better quality for the money if you are willing to look at used ie. something like this:

I recommend you to check this website: http://www.lifespanfitness.com.au/Products3/Lifespan-Treadmi…

I have one, they are very good and cheaper. Warranty is very good, mine was Dead on arrival and they sent me a new model because the one I ordered was gone.

Check for them in Ebay, I bought mine there as the do auctions and they end very much cheaper than in their own website. Mine was at $999 in their website and I paid $560 at Ebay. They are strong and powerful.

You have to take into account that the machine with rated power of 1.5 HP is not recommended as this is the limit the machine can do.

This one http://www.lifespanfitness.com.au/Products3/Lifespan-Treadmi… has a power of 1.5 HP and rated power of 4 HP.

I know that you want the machine delivered, but if you are in Sydney or Melbourne you can pick it up yourself and save at least $100.

    • Looks good. They have a showroom not too far from where I live. will try to drop by sometime this week. Thanks Dasalcedo.

edit: did you notice a big increase in your electricity bill?

Hi Jar, I can't say about the electricity bill as I have not got the machine for 3 months yet and I have not got the bill yet.

I'd be careful about buying from BigW for these sort of things. I bought an exercise bike from Kmart some time ago and the bearings started playing up, out of warranty of course. My husband tried everywhere to get a replacement bearing. Someone on Ebay from Sydney sold similar sized bearings for bikes. So we contacted him to ask did he have our size. His reply was, "No, and if you bought the bike from BigW or Kmart you won't be able to source them." Very interesting we thought. So we now steer clear of these places. Made cheaply for a cheap price.

    • I will.Thanks for sharing your experience:)

Hi. I wouldn't buy a cheap one, they can be really flimsy. Look at gym membership. At my local YMCA you can use all gym facilities and access classes for all ages for $14 a week. And you get to use excellent machines that won't fall apart if you run too fast!

  • Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions. we bought this crosstrainer. We got it for $350, thanks to @dasalcedo's suggestion. Bargain!!! really happy with the purchase. Hopefully Grandpa will love it too:)
