Laundromats Prices

Hi guys,

I've noticed my local laundromat has increased their prices from $4 - to $4.50 and now its $5. I live in Kensington NSW, near to UNSW, and was wondering if these prices were normal since I dont have much to compare against. I took a slightly larger load last time and they threatened to make me pay $8 for using the larger washing machine (which they normally point me to use anyways regardless of load size). I live in a boarding house without a washing machine so its probably the only option I have since its the only one nearby.

  • Sometimes need to use a Laundromat (travelling- etc) [Queensland]
those prices seem about on the mark unfortunately,i guess the rising price of electricity/gas is the main reason for these kinds of prices. (staff overheads seem low)

  • do you have the plumbing facilities for a washing machine where you live?
if so then go on your local freecycle and ask if anyone has a working machine they are giving away.

  • You can buy a washing machine for $400 new…

I assume you can't sneak that into college, so maybe buy a portable/trailer one off ebay?

  • I had a cheapo portable one over twenty years ago. I thought it did an adequate job.
