    Thanks, adiosofenn.
I am still quite unhappy with the way JetStar mishandled its flights to KUL… making a holiday there much more hassle (triple the number of flights, plus a very expensive hotel in SIN).
(So much for that 2-for-1 deal, last year. :()

It's unfortunate that JetStar nor Qantas have a service to compete DIRECTLY with Air Asia and Malaysia Airlines, respectively.

    Thanks for sharing!

      Hi bizi,

Yeah, I've noticed that. There was a bit of press/talk when the SIN-KUL route got opened up (which Jetstar grabbed) which was apparently very desirable, so Jetstar may have decided to service that only (with KUL then via SIN).

However, considering you can't get to SIN directly from melbourne either these days (and Jetstar is doing a bad job of bundling segments together), it ends up very hard/messy. We're currently building features that lets adioso calculate routes between places (that use multiple airports/airlines if necessary) and let you monitor/suggest pricing and sales that way.

Interesting to see what the airlines are doing though.

      Cheers!

      Fenn.

      • Discovered your site yesterday Adioso.
Awesome site with alot of time saving and money saving features.
Will be using it quite alot on the future.
Cheers for all the deals you post!

        Matt

        • Hey Matt,

Cheers for the feedback, really appreciate it! The site's under heavy development at the moment (launching a new batch of cool features in the next few days) so welcome any suggestions you (or anyone else has).

Hope you found some cool/cheap flights!

          Cheers,

          Fenn.

      • The multiple airports/airlines feature would be awesome. I'm trying to find the cheapest way to fly to Europe from Brisbane but have no idea how to go about it as it seems you can't get direct flights.

        • Hey Rigby,

We don't index very much in europe yet (as we only do Jetstar, VirginBlue/Pacific, Tiger Airways, Air Asia and Qantas domestic.

You can get there using air asia by flying gold coast to kuala lumpur, then kuala lumpur to london, which if you've got a sale on (like now) would be fairly cheap. About $250 + $360 = $610 each way. To be honest, $1200 return to london is pretty cheap, but you may be able to get there cheaper directly using one of the "full service" carriers if they have a sale.

Sadly, we don't index them (yet! - it's in the works), and none of the current aggregators handle Australia very well (which is one of the reasons we're working on it) but you could give www.kayak.com a go and see what it coughs up.

          Good luck!

          Fenn.

          • @adiosofenn: Would have to agree that the cheapest option to fly from australia to europe would probably be through a flight into KL and then taking the KL - Stansted route with AirAsiaX.

Another option I discovered a while back for Sydneysiders (since I live in Sydney) is to take Viva Macau from Sydney to Macau, which costs 550AUD return when on sale, and then EVA Air onwards from Macau to London Heathrow. EVA has decent sales and Macau-London can be picked up for around 700AUD- so around about the same price.

Just from personal experience, if you can find flights into London Stansted or even Gatwick, the taxes are usually considerably cheaper than flying into Heathrow- or at least it was for me, so that might help for people trying to get into London.

BTW nice site! Hope all the upgrades go smoothly :) Been looking for a site like adioso for a while thanks heaps!

you're up on wikitravel too now ;) (http://wikitravel.org/en/Discount_airlines#Know_the_airlines)

  • Good work on Adioso!
I once sent my feedback to them not reflecting Jetstar sales price. But since then the site looks much improved and worth checking before booking any flight.

    Cheers,

    • Cheers zenzen,

The flight prices can still get a bit out of date sometimes (if the fares are selling very quick) but we're working on ways to detect this and tell it to update faster if it happens. The reason we do things this way (rather than checking "live" only, like kayak) is that it allows us to sort ALL the fares before they've been searched for, and only display you the cheapest (or which days have the cheapest).

      Thanks heaps for the feedback!

      Cheers,

      Fenn.
