Blocking deals by keywords?

Figured I'd ask here, rather than on a deal's page - I don't want to come across as hostile to any particular user.

Is it possible to block deals based on keywords, rather than sources? I don't want to see a ton of 'free Kindle books' deals. I don't want to lose -ALL- deals from Amazon.com, and I still want to see deals on books, though - is this doable?

  • @LiamF — unfortunately it's not possible at the moment. We'll get the category filtering on the front page first however it won't be much use to you. We could do blocking on tags, except the deals aren't always tagged properly when they are submitted.

    • If you put the tag filter in place then there will be social pressure on posters to tag properly.

      • Doesn't work when tags are black listed — very easy to bypass.

  • I second this, the amount of random free kindle books is becoming a little tedious to deal with.

  • I was thinking about filtering and saw this. Yeah the kindle and also those online courses are getting rather annoying lately. I tried one 'course' and it's ok, nothing I couldn't get from a book or youtube. I have doubts anybody would pay the full fees unless it's a proper recognised edu entity.

    • You can already block udemy.com deals — just find one and click on "Hide from Listing". However Kindle eBooks are a bit harder to block at the moment as you would need to block the entire Amazon domain which is probably not desirable.

  • oh thank you, I didn't know that.

  • I'd like to add a vote for tag filtering. I don't need any more kindle tablets.

  • Hi All,

Sorry to revive an old topic.

I wanted to filter/block out deals using a keyword, but It looks like this isn't possible. I did have a good hunt around the settings area but didn't see anything to achieve this.

    +1 to this topic.

    Thanks.
