    not bad with the batteries
    For those with them;

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1800-Lumen-Zoomable-18650-Flashli…

AU$7.99 delivered for only the torch; and it's 1800lumens

    • +3

considering the max sustainable output of an XM-L U3 is around 1000lm (and the T6 is a much lower grade than that), I somehow doubt the 1800lm figure, I think on the budget light forum they call them 'chinese lumens'..

      • Divide by 3, it's Chinese lumens

  • Nice.

I got this last time, it's OK, but I much prefer the smaller CREE Q5's I got last time for under $4… There isn't that much noticeable difference in brightness for most uses…

    • Do you get more range?

      • +6

Yeah, the range is noticeably longer when you focus the beam, but I generally always leave the torches on wide beam as I use them at night when walking the dog… On wide beam, the difference isn't that noticeable to me… Side by side you'd see a difference, but both give a lot of light, so much more than my previous LED torches, so I prefer to carry the smaller one.

This must be the first time JV has given helpful feedback

        • +1

I wasnt going to buy one until i saw that JV has one - now i NEED one :-)

        • So you mean something like this?? Mentions only 300 versus 1800.. I know the 1800 is rubbish but still a fair bit brighter or in the flash not much difference?? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/UltraFire-7W-300LM-CREE-Q5-LED-Zo…

    • Agree with JV. This is a bit bulky compared to the Q5.

      • I purchased one last time. The picture is deceptive. The batteries have been enlarged in the picture to make the torch look small.

        • Also have to keep in mind, in that photo, they are not AAs but 18650s, which are significantly larger..

        • Not only that. It requires a plastic sleeve (shown in the picture) to stop the battery from rattling in the torch. The plus side is that you can use 3AAA batteries as backup.

  • I got this last time too. The only thing i don't like about it is that it does not keep memory, so if you turn it off and turn it back on, it cycles to the next setting.

Not sure how useful a flash light with "200 uses only" is! ;)

It is the code that OP talking about …

      • -1

It's the humour that escapes you.
But that's okay, try not to take everything literally.
For the record I did not neg you.

  • Do they just make up the LM rating? The XM-L T6 doesn't go anywhere near that high.

    • More just a theoretical LM rating.
      e.g. manufacturer spec for XM-L T6 emitter = 1600LM at max power

However most torches don't hit that max power, due to:
      1. Power constraints by the battery
      2. Heat emitted

      • "More just a theoretical LM rating.
        e.g. manufacturer spec for XM-L T6 emitter = 1600LM at max power"

no the theoretical maximum for an XM-L (high grade not T6 which is lower grade) is 1000lm, so it is just a complete lie, sorry..

        http://www.cree.com/led-components-and-modules/products/xlam…

Theoretically you could overdrive, for a very short time, the t6 up to 1400lm or so, but you would be driving it at 6A to do this (not 3 odd amps like this torch, and the recommended max by CREE) and you would kill the LED quickly…

    • yes they do, try Fasttech, fast and free shipping, lots of torches and they tend not to lie this badly about the ratings..

This ultrafire T6 would do around 600lm in reality..

IF you use 'BLF' as discount code you get 5% off..

Got this last time. It is phenomenally brighter than normal LED flashlights. If you are like me and have plenty of $3 led torches around and are wondering if $13 is worth it, I am very pleased with it.

  • I bought one of these last deal. brillant product, i've had friends try and fleece it off me!

  • I get the message "The coupon is valid after users have consumed the $1.00." when applying the coupon code. Any ideas?

  • Geez, all these torch deals.
Come the next black-out its going to be easy to tell who is in the ozbargain community.
    Thanks - got one.

  • So how does to work on AAA batteries?

    • It has a battery adapter/cartridge which you use to install 3 AAA batteries in it..

Personally I would spend the $45 to get a Nitecore EA4 (4xAA) shipped from fasttech or similar, MUCH MUCH better torch, though I guess not ozbargain like. Though getting great quality at a decent price is more of a bargain to me than paying less but getting garbage.. (I have both and a number more LED torches for comparison)..

      • I got a EA4 W. I mean how well does the torch work on 3 AAAs? How bright?

When you put the zoom down to lowest so the light forms a dot how far can this light up?

      • Sometimes, but I mainly use torches when camping and my kids break and lose lots all the time. At $1.99 I can deal, but at $45 things would get serious.

  • Its pretty bright and my dog is blind now!
