Will TV prices go up? (due to decreasing dollar)

As the dollar keep dropping……

Anyone know if the LED TVs might go up in prices from now on to Christmas?

  • I read somewhere yesterday (maybe Fin Rev) that most big stores have about 3 or 4 months stock on hand and many now also hedge (like Qantas and their jet fuel) against the dollar falling.

If the dollar continues to drop like a stone (bloody currency traders grrrrrrr) then I doubt prices will stay at current levels until Christmas. I reckon you've probably only got a few months at best to get what you want at today's prices.

Of course, all the foregoing does not apply to Harvey Norman. He will stick his prices up as soon as possible and blame the dollar, regardless of what he paid wholesale.

I thought Australian consumers were already being ripped off.

    • Noob…retailers make almost no margin on tvs. Just the accessories that come with one.

  • I think it's still go down, provided technology always changes in a better way.

  • In a way yeah
if they can't get rid of old stock to make way for newer to TV models each year..
then they have to reduce the price ..

or return back to the manufacturer…which I don't think the manufacturer would want

  • Tech will always go down
