Any great movies to see these holidays?

I am looking forward to seeing The Internship because I really enjoyed Vince and Owen's performance in Wedding Crashers. However, I really don't want to pass up watching Monsters University as I Monsters Inc was one of my childhood favourites. Also, one of my favourite reads of all time is the Great Gatsby but I'm worried that Baz Luhrmann destroyed this wonderful piece of literature after making the box office flop "Australia."

What movie would you recommend? :)

  • Definitely Man of Steel :)

    • That's a good choice too! I love Christopher Nolan's films.

      • He only produced MoS, Zach Snyder directed, his pretty damn good as well.

    • I've heard first hand it's bad with a capital B.

      • +2

Doesn't first hand mean YOU have seen it?

        • I think he/she was speaking to himeself/herself.. :D

  • With some free tix to use my list is Monsters University and Despicable Me 2 for guaranteed goodness. And Man of Steel and World War Z to see if they are as terrible as the feedback seems to indicate. Definite "no's" are After Earth and Hangover 3.

  • +1

I've just seen Monsters U and while it was enjoyable, it didn't quite hit the highs that Despicable Me 2 did. DM2 was a giddy riot for us.

    • I just watched monsters university today. It was ok but nothing fantastic. We went to the 3d which wasn't worth it no really great effects. My dad and niece both saw world war z and said it was great.

    • I just saw Despicable Me 2 today - it was absolutely hilarious. The minions stole the show - they were really cute.

I also have seen The Internship last week. It was pretty funny as well.

Will bring the kids to see one movie this holiday and looks like DM2 would be it.

      • Queue movie voice over guy: "If you only see one movie this winter…"

      • Watched DM2 this morning (Events at Westfield Garden City) and it was hilarious. Non stop laughing from my kids and love the songs at the end :)

I really did like The Great Gatsby. I didn't like the hangover 3; it's being silly. They put stupid little 'funny' scene's to spice it up but they are getting desperate for laughs. I am patiently awaiting 2 Guns with Denzel Washington to hit the Cinema. Anything with Denzel Washington is an amazing movie.

  • Saw WWZ last night - brilliant zombie movie without the gore.

Looking forward to Lone Ranger, and Captain Phillips looks good too.

  • Now You See Me

  • World War Z was amazing!!! One of the best movies ive seen in a while! Especially if you liked thrillers like Contagion etc

  • Personally looking forward to Pacific Rim and WWZ

  • Despicable Me 2 with my daughter this Wednesday in the mums n bubs session, only $10

    • Definitely not green lantern

  • I am waiting for This is the end

  • The fast and furious 6 was epic, best one out of the lot, if you like cars, girls, guns, this is something to pick up either young or elderly.

  • I loved The Great Gatsby. Baz Luhrmann's version is very true to the book, I thought. The Valley of Ashes was different than what I expected, sort of over-done, but the movie was well made and well cast, IMHO. YMMV
