New Cooktop, Oven, Fridge, Dishwasher

Hey Guys, I am doing renovations for the kitchen and looking to buy some good quality appliances.

Can anyone recommend any cheap places to buy these Items,

The Fridge needs to be a big 2 door fridge. I would prefer there to be no plumbing involved but would like one that has the option of having water/ice accessible from the outside, it obviously depends on cost whether its worth the extra cash.

The dishwasher will most likely be run daily and so needs to be as economical as possible.

the cooktop will need to support a gas connection.

Thanks guys

P.S I've also made a separate post for other household appliances. I think that's better as it may help some people who are looking for similar items. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/108020

  • Don't forget to check out www.productreview.com.au for feedback from actual owners of your chosen appliances.
For the fridge 2door..> will be buying one of these myself shortly and after reading a lot I have decided to go with Kelvinator. (I am not looking at external ice/water though.)
Some brands are prone to rust at an early stage so best to do your homework to avoid a lemon.

  • Thanks for the tip, I will make sure to do that. Why kelvinator, what do you like about it? I currently have an 8ish year old LG and the only issue I've had is to replace the motor or fan (cant remember) as it was icing up. Its no longer big enough though and want to get something more modern.

  • I can't really give any advice about which appliances to buy as I'm still living with a crappy, but v. expensive Ilve gas cooker and the oven has NEVER worked properly.

But I can tell you where to buy them from …. Appliances Online.

Our washing machine died a month or so ago and we did a bit of a search on eBay and Gumtree for a secondhand one. We ended up buying a new Samsung top loader from Appliances Online. Bought it on a Thursday morning, and by Friday lunchtime it had been delivered, installed and our old machine taken away.
For free. We only paid for the machine - Appliances Online do free delivery, installation and removal of old machine and all the packing that the new one came in.

  • thanks judyoz, i'll have a look at their products and compare the prices, did you find them cheaper than most bricks and mortar shops? besides the delivery and installation what else do you like about them, as in as how is their warranty claim process? i find this is usually a problem when things go wrong.

    • We recently brought a dishwasher from Appliances Online. It had a small dent in the door. They were very good to deal with and I would definitely buy from then again.

In our case they were quite a bit cheaper than bricks and mortar, but it probably depends on the appliances you've chosen. Installation wasn't free, but delivery and removal of old appliances (if desired) was.

    • Drifta, we checked prices online at a few B&Ms, but didn't even bother doing the slog around shops trying to price-match. As you're purchasing a few items that would probably be worth your while, but as we were only buying a not-very-expensive washing machine, we were happy to pay less than $400 and not have to leave the house.
If there is a warranty issue, we will deal directly with the manufacturer
