Help me build a home theatre for ~$2.5k

The catch is, I don't need it for another year. I'm building a house which won't be ready for another year or so which gives me the chance to buy during the EOFY/EOY sales. I guess what I'm saying is, I can afford to wait for a good deal to pop up every now and then to purchase single components or whatever is available for a good deal rather than buying everything now, so feel free to duck into the thread at any point if you see a good bargain. ps I'm in Perth so would prefer to buy locally.

Just the receiver, the speakers and the wiring. Already have a TV and will use my PS3 for movies.

For now, budget is around 2.5k, give or take a little bit. I know it's not much of a budget but I assume I will end up with a better system if I buy components separately on sale rather than getting an in-the-box package.

Priorities are watching movies and sports so must be 5.1

Thanks.

  • I'd be tempted to do in-wall/ceiling speakers if you haven't built yet. Wife Acceptance Factor goes through the roof!
Krix do high quality inbuilts and should come in with room in your budget for a decent Receiver ($500 should be sufficient for you to get one on sale).
