THE HOBBIT 3D + 2D + UV Blu-Ray Is $15.98 at JB Hi-Fi. $1 P&H or Price-Match in Store

470

JB have their 20% sale, of course. But they also have The Hobbit on Blu-ray and DVD for very cheap - which has been compound discounted as a result.

3D + 2D + UV Edition = $15.98
2D + DVD + UV Steelbook = $15.98
2D + DVD + UV Normal = $12.98
DVD + UV = $10.98

My local store didn't have the correct price on it, but it scanned okay. It's available online, and postage is $1 per item on JBHiFi.com.au

What is UV? A digital copy that is in the cloud.

    • Yeah, unfortunately UV has region restrictions though. So when you buy Amazon UK copies you can't activate them here. For this reason I tend to ignore UV copies, although I expect that an AU purchased disc will have no problems activating etc.

I see. I think I already have that version. Except it works on any platform and doesn't require installing special software that might have a root kit.

and you probably didn't even pull out the credit card

  • does anyone know if there are different editions movie length wise?

    • +1

Not yet, the extended edition will be out later in the year.

I'm not sure if I want the extended version of one third of a rather short book.

The extended version of the 3 LOTR movies were better than the shorter versions, but how long can they stretch out The Hobbit Part 1?

    • sure, it will have different version, There are theatrical cut, Director's Cut, triple pack…. many more

it is how they got your money, remember "the big bang theory the 21-second unseen footage in Raiders of the Lost Ark"

indeed, it is a good movie, worth to have it now at this cheap price

When prices are reasonable we don't have a need to buy from amazon, however in this case I'll be waiting for all 3 to inevitably come out in a box set. I hate paying extra to get a movie when it's first released only to find that a better version is coming out for those who wait.

  • Thank you!

There is no reason to buy this movie in 3D… There was barely any in it. Worst '3D' in a movie I have seen.

    • +1

Wow, pretty sure you're alone on that one. I know plenty of people have complained about the length, the uneven tone, and the higher frame rate*, but the 3D? Really? That's a first.

      *not present on the bluray

My main gripe was the singing. I didn't sign up for a musical. I only managed to overlook it because Sir Ian McKellan.

Don't ever try reading the books.

Funny, my main gripe was there wasn't enough singing. This movie never had any hope of pleasing everyone, did it ;)

      • -2

It's true. There was barely any 3D affect at all. Clearly they just added 3D I to cash in.

    • +3

Barely any in it? It was shot with 3D cameras, the entire movie is in 3D

  • I wish this movie was better!

  • I am waiting for the 4k version. Not that I can afford all the gears to play. Just a wishful thinking!

I enjoyed this flick, but I think I'll wait for a director's cut/extended edition so I'm actually getting something new for my money.

Gonna wait on an extended version after the movies are all released.

IF I had a 3D tv I'd probably bite, until then it seems a bit pointless when you know there's an extended version coming out soon

  • I grabbed a copy from my local JB, and noticed that none of the Hobbit Blu Rays were marked at the reduced prices, but were instead all marked at $39.99 - $58. It scanned at the correct price but I wonder why JB is not advertising the sales price of the Hobbit in-store?

  • Ok.. here's my 2c gripe : why does Australia miss out on the nice lenticular cover that the US gets ? Oh that's right - we get the poor version down-under - now with those ugly purple Ultra Violet banners. YUK
