Allianz - Previous customers can you please tell me your thoughts when claiming?

Hey guys just wondering how you have been treated over the years as a Alianz customer with comprehensive car insurance.

I got a pretty good quote for my 2nd year being with ALianz but they say no one really knows what a company is like until they make a claim so im just wondering what you guys think.

I managed to get $834 with a NCB discount 40% (no accidents so far) + road side assistances for a year(agreed value worth $15,500, ACT.

I have been with them for a year and so far it has been smooth sailing with a +

Bingle = $746 no idea
NRMA = $1130 no idea of excess - choice of repairer
ALianz = $834 excess $600 + $600 for under 25's -choice of repairer
Coles = $920+ $750 excess + $600 for under 25's -choice of repairer

  • We have 3 cars with Bingle, much cheaper and never an issue, sorted us out with a windscreen too.

  • Have a look at progressive direct.

    I've taken out three separate policies with them on 3 different cars over the last 5 or so years and had 2 windscreen claims and one full at fault accident claim, and never ever had a problem with a claim. My last one was me at fault, reversing into something and almost taking the door off only a few weeks after taking out the policy, and still they were helpful the whole way through.

    They were also at least $300 cheaper than NRMA, Coles and Budget direct for me.

  • Ooh not bad , does it include choice of repairer?

    • Not progressive, no. You have to use one of their repairers but I couldn't find a problem with the one they're linked with, other than that it was about 10ks further than I would've liked to travel.

      • ah then i wouldnt trust them :D it would be up to luck i would think ~ due to the fact they get to choose what dealer~ some good, some bad

  • +1

    I've had a claim recently, the claiming process is pretty streamline, just don't get caught out with the market value though unless you can get addition gap insurance which pays for the difference between the payout value and market value incase your car is written off( like mine, I have to fork out 2k out of pocket)

    So IMO, always get agreed value and also do note, how many days they give you a hire car for, it may not be as important now because you are driving a car but when you don't have a car, you will need wheels and fortunately i've got 42 days of hire car so they helped alot.

    Allianz also allows you with your own repairer, unlike other vendors, you have a choice from their own list of repairs which is totally misleading.

    Another thing to watch out is the new for old policy, do read the PDS! If you drive a 3 year old car and get into an accident and it's written off, my PDS says they will replace you with a same make, model and SERIES car, so that's bs because my car was MY11 (made in 2011) of course they are not available on the market as brand new so alternatively, they will just pay you out at market value, this is why agreed value will protect you.

    In all Allianz came out pretty good, good value for money but at all times, read the PDS before diving into a policy.

  • Excellent advise, I really appriciate it all mate!! I will deff look into the PDS b4 just paying the fee :)

  • Had never heard of Bingle Insurance so went online to get a quote as mine is due for renewal in Sept.
    Apparently no way to get an online quote and you have to contact them, put me off straight away so didn't bother

  • got Allianz extended warranty for my ford ranger under car yard guidance doesn't protect you for fuel lines blocking up as it's not mechanical not happy with either @ moment

  • Allianz has been good to me, as previously stated, market value can be disappointing at times … but the claims process has been relatively painless for the claims that i've made (car x2, contents x2, land lord x1)

  • Bingle claims are managed by AAMI Insurance!
