5 or more nights is the killer.

"on bookings for 5 or more nights". The large print giveth, the fine print taketh away!

  • Actually the prices are pretty good compared to some of the other 'last minute' sites. But only if you're booking 5+ nights.

    • Yeah, the prices are pretty good. I guess the five days reflects a saving on housekeeping costs when the venue doesn't need to service the room so often. The apartment-style places tend not to have hotel-style daily room service.

As an aside, the best way to deal with LastMinute and Wotif (they're the same company AFAICS) is to use their search to find deals, then call the hotel directly. Wotif/LastMinute double-dip, they charge you a fee AND they charge the hotel a fee. On top of that, they require the hotel to photocopy your ID documents - risk of identity theft anyone?! More than once I've had a proprieter say "next time you want to stay, call me directly and we'll do a deal"

  • When there's no shortage of accommodation on the Gold Coast & (for eg) the first property can be gotten for $145 for a 1 night stay on wotif, this is not a bargain.
Second property can even be gotten cheaper via wotif depending on dates (down to $105 some nights with their 'steal deal'), so neg from me.

    • At least give us some links. I think this deal is OK because they don't jack up the price on weekend.

first property can be gotten for $145 for a 1 night stay on wotif

$149 minimum 3 nights on Wotif and no weekend. . Give us a link or it didn't happen.

down to $105 some nights with their 'steal deal'

      Wotif link
Yea but $105 only happens on Monday night on 3 nights minimum. The other 2 nights are $145 or can be $185.

  • How much of the beach is left?Too expensive for winter season

  • seanbsydney 1, please link your info. I am a building manager on the Gold Coast and I very much doubt you would get a one night stay for that. The cost of a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom clean in our building is $103-50 charge to the owner. Many pay much more. Throw in Foxtel and power and if you info is true then the owner is being a philanthropist but I haven't seen one of those owners in 5 years in this industry……. Hover your mouse over Wotif's prices and see what Wotifs deal really is.

rinbond, there is still plenty of beach left although there has been plenty of erosion but winter is the best time to visit "anywhere" Queensland. I originate from South Oz, you certainly don't get winters like SA here.

Wotif, just like other booking agents charge a fee (11% commission) while others charge 15 or even 20%. Some sell vouchers and pocket whatever the voucher is worth as their commission. That's why you will quite often get a better deal or better quality Unit by going direct. Understanding that, the best units are easier to sell by the managers while a lot of those needing refurbs or upgrades are the ones that buildings get the booking agents to sell for them. (Some people expect 6 star quality at a 2 star price.)

  • anyone actually booked through these guys? the website looks a bit cruddy
