Free range eggs no more at ALDI?

Where do you buy free range chicken eggs normally?

I used to buy them from ALDI, but can't find them now in ALDI due to some 'supplier issues'.

Coles have the 700g for $4.50 or 600g for $4.10. Otherwise, your local fruit shop can be a cheaper option. $2.99 at my local fruit place for small size FR eggs. I won't buy cage eggs under any circumstances.

    • Ha ha ha, you would be surprised how often you do buy caged eggs and at double the price.
      A massive con.
BTW… A lot of the photos depicting cruelty to battery hens are not taken in Australia.
The kookie greenies that trespass and raid egg producing facilities cause far more damage and deaths by stressing out the birds with their insane behaviour.
The people that manage these farms want their birds to be in a healthy and contented state otherwise it would affect their production. They achieve nothing by abusing the birds.
If you saw a properly managed facility you would soon change your mind.

Some places that market free range eggs actually buy their eggs in bulk from the regular producers and repackage them. Massive mark up just because people are so hoodwinked by greenies and loonies.

Are you aware that the "caged" facilities are regularly inspected by the RSPCA??
Their diet and condition is very carefully monitored by professional people.
Have you seen the hens when they have finished their 18 month production cycle? They are in better condition than most backyard hens.

      Get informed.

  • just bought 2 dozen at maroubra last week, they must ran out of stock as they dont buy as much as other supermarket

  • I usually buy them from Aldi. Other times I prefer larger once which Aldi doesn't sell. Just got 800g for $5.10 in Coles. Fruit shop is good too and some butcher shops sell eggs as well. My local sells 800g for $5.00

Free range from Coles with a picture. Better then caged I guess, but still, is it how you would imagine free range?

Alternative is to look for a trusted source, like here for example.

    • Thanks for the information. There seem to be not much "free ranging" for hens that produce free range eggs for Coles, which kind of defeats the purpose of buying free range prouducts.

  • Costco have 18 free range eggs for around $3.50-$4.00 iirc. Size is medium (prob 60-70gm per egg on average)

  • Really? My one in Eastwood still had a whole pallet full of em.

  • Thanks everyone for your suggestions

  • Make the switch to Caged eggs. Everyone else is doing it.

    • jv, is that you?

  • Sorry..im just curious. Is free range eggs and a dozen of egg that you could grab anywhere the same?…Just curious
