May need to service my Peugeot 307. How much should I pay and where should I get it done? (Sydney)

Hi

My Peugeot 307 2002 (Unleaded Petrol)model recently hit about 85k and I think it may be due for a service. There is a symbol above the odometer that displays a spanner + about 1k kilometres. I think this might be how many k's I've driven over since it was due for a service? Anyway from reading a bit online it appears that it may be the time to replace my cambelt also?
I'm located in Sydney and in my area (Yennora) there are A LOT of smash repairs/automotive related centres. Should I get it done there or should I take it to an actual Peugeot dealership to get it done. How much will a service cost at both places roughly? Including how much would a normal cambelt change cost.

Thanks!

  • lol dis gon be fun

time to work out the phone

i'd try final stage in merrylands… you need to be asking how much a cam belt change as per the service manual will cost

if its under $1k i'd be surprised

revolushenary - try this guy out. He might be a one-man shop, but he knows his stuff and definitely 10x more helpful than any Peugeot repairers. He'll answer any tech questions you throw at him. Best of all, he's focused on french cars only.

I was in your boat not too long ago. Owned a 307 for 10 years. Paul done my cam belt change twice. From memory, both times close to 1K. But Peugeot will charge close to 2K. Good luck.

    • +1 have taken my clio sport here for its belt change and Paul V is an absolute legend. Genuine, brilliant and for the quality of his work, worth it. If you care about your frenchie, take it here.

Another vote for Paul Vassallo. He pretty much only services Peugeot and RenaultSport Clio.
He knows your type of car well.

I would not go to a Peugeot dealership.

  • If it is a log book service, check out fixedpricecarservice.com.au …

  • you don't say whether it's a diesel or petrol. big difference

Phred, the first sentence states that it is a petrol!

I updated it. Please don't scream at him T_T

  • My second car is a 307 done 80 000kms, i just change the oil and filter every 15 000 kms myself, the service symbol can be reset following the instructions in the owner manual.

I reckon my car is only worth $6000 so there is no way i would spend $1000 to get it serviced, i wouldn't even contemplate changing the timing belt till 120 000kms.

edit:Paul Vassallo is talked of highly in the pug forums.

  • just had wife's 307 diesel 80k service done for $270. Biggest component was oil at $120 (inc $10 environmental charge)

    • Where did you get it done?

      • sorry didn't get advised of your question…in Greensborough… Howard Mackey motors have been looking after French cars for at least 40 years.

  • Been ages, but finally got it down at my local Mechanic. Charged me $1140, which included a bunch of stuff, 80k service, premium spark plugs, timing belt change, fan belt, fan belt pulley, fan belt tensioner, harmonic balancer, air filter, etc.

    Thanks for all your help!
