I think he's referring to the fact that someone mentioned you can get it for cheaper at Dick Smith but in fact you can't (or not any more at least).
Well, clearly $899 is a better deal than $997!
If you read the (whole) thread, I was suggesting to Michegianni that this Sony can't be had for $699 @ D.S.E. (unless they know something I don't).
My point in short is that $899 beats an available $997 and a seemingly unavailable $699.
The low-end Sonys don't seem any better than any other cheap TVs.
This does not seem like a bargain anymore, when bigger (37") or full-HD TVs are going at similar prices.
Its only a 1 year warranty too.
You are right. It is hard to spend $899 on 32 inches when 42 can be had for about the same price. I have been looking for a 32 inch for the spare room for a while now and I am not p repaired to pay more for a 32 inch than I would for a 42.
You could pickup a 32" Samsung Series 5 FULL HD for $1000 with 3 yrs warranty
I picked a 32" up at DSE for $850.. The $999 deal for the 37" was nicer :)
Yeah the price from what I've heard in terms of cost is about 780ish. Stores wanna get rid of this because apparently it may be a disco model or a model they are keen to remove. It's the lowest end of the Sony Bravia line. $899 isn't bad, but you could probably do better.
