Best place to hire car (long term of 4+ months)

Anyone got any suggestions on long term car hiring? What's the cheapest option out there? And what would you guys pay for it?

For that time, I'd just be looking to buy a secondhand car that I can easily resell.
Even if you lose $1000 on the sale to move it quickly, it'd be cheaper in the long run!

  • Depends what type of car and if you have the upfront cash.

Where r u from? I was looking this week at private rentals so if your in nsw or qld I can send you some I thought were ok

  • The Ozbargain way to go about this is buy buy a used car that has already depreciated and whose value will change little over the course of 4 months. It will be much cheaper than hiring a car.

problem with that is that you can buy a heap of shit and spend more time and money fixing it

    • And you need a lump sum upfront.

And stamp duty to the government.

  • what do you need the car for? -big driving?
how soon do you need it?
do you have the time to sell it when you are finished with it?

If i needed a car for 4 months then i'd buy a beater with a RWC and at least 4 months reg. then a month before finishing using it I'd start advertising to sell.

  • If wanting to go around Aus maybe using these guys for each 'hop' is the way to go.
