Supposedly a sale price at Harvey Norman. Not a lot of stock left in Western Australia, but JB Hifi kindly price matched. Myer couldn't price match ($424.15 on sale), saying it was below cost price.

Harvey Norman has the $5 off first purchase too, when buying online.

Not as cheap as when cameraparadise had it for sale http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/93158, but decent price for bricks and mortar Item.

  • Wow, that's a great price… though the Sony RX100/II now seems to be the compact camera to get.

Not even the same sort of class to compare the two.
If your after portability, the RX100 is not portable enough to carry on a night out or what not.

I have a S110 and its a brilliant camera, if you know how to use it to its positional ie adjust aperture, shutter speed and iso you can take some great shots.

      • Size comparison:

I'd go for the slightly bigger RX100 for the much bigger sensor… though the price is double this price for the S110, so the S110 definitely wins out in that regard.

  • Tried to price match at JB Hifi in the Strand (NSW) and they would only let it go for $339 and said that's the lowest they can go. Bull****.

  • So whats better overall? The sony or this canon? I am goin overseas in september and dont want to take my slr everywhere

    • between the two the RX100 is a better camera, but with the impending arrival of the Ricoh GR (28mm f/2.8 equiv prime lense, 16MP APS-C sensor, pre-order pricing of $849) I would be suggest taking a look at that if you can live with a wide prime.

Bigger sensor is going to be better, but at the same time the RX100 still falls into the "too many pixels" trap and combined with the slow (other than at wide angle) zoom lens, low light IQ suffers, they should have gone with a 14-16MP with better ISO performance.

  • This is a good local price, but…

Cameras like this really should be selling for less in today's market. I can appreciate its enthusiast features, decent quality & compact body but I still think it's overpriced for a small-sensor enthusiast cam.

  • I have this camera. It's a buddy to my LX-5. The slim profile is definitely appreciated - the LX5 is probably a better camera but it fits in my GFs handbag, rather than my pocket like this one.

  • Beware of lens error issues with the S100 and S110.

  • Decent camera, nice price, the mighty have fallen!

  • This? or Nikon V1 or EOS-M??

All around the same price range.

    • Nikon 1 and EOS M both provide (far!) better pic quality by virtue of their larger sensors. Particularly if you expect good performance after dark and/or with higher ISO sensitivities!

But it's possible this camera can outshine them in certain specific areas you may be interested in. Every camera has its own strengths and none does everything better than the other. Plus of course this thing is more compact.
