  • I have the Dual Core MK808b from them
Frankly the only reason you'd want to go for the Quad is games, possibly faster boot time (I just leave ours running 24/7). The Dual Core is plenty fast enough for a media player and about half the price - the MK808b doesn't have inbuilt ethernet, but the WiFi has worked great so far.

    • I had the UG802 but the mini usb broke inside the case and now I prefer to have a box style. Your right dualcore was enough but if you can get quad for a bit more why not? its like future proofing for few more years.

      • get quad for a bit more

They're pretty much double the price! Sure it's "only" $40, but it's still unnecessary. Especially considering the Quad Cores have all sorts of reliability (namely overheating) queries hanging around them at the moment.

its like future proofing for few more years.

Not really.. It's not as though media playing will need more processing power in a year's time.
Media players wont need more power until you have a 4K resolution TV/projector and source material. Even then, it's the GPU that will be doing the work, not the CPU and I'm not sure that the GPU in the current day Quad Core units would be capable of decoding 4K.

        • Fair enough but my preference atm is box style and they are roughly the same price dual core and quad so I would prefer quad if paying nearly same price.
          Thanks for advice though.

this is what i recently ordered. didn't scrounge around too hard for it so don't know if it is a good deal. came to $97 with my 28 degrees card.

    • hehehe.. still no box-style suggestions.

  • Hi, well its a good box but if you want bluetooth have a look at

If you are going to be using the android for media and especially if you want to use XBMC then the CS868 stick is a better option, the A31 processor is a little slower but the GPU and I/O is quicker and hardware decoding is supported on XBMC.
In regards to geekbying I just bought a tronsmart T428 and it had no TF slot or recovery key, and 3 weeks later I am still waiting for a reply to my last email 5 days ago. Their after sales is the worst I have ever seen, you can only email and they won't chat to you, its only for pre-sales. I finally got PAYPAL involved to resolve it.
I will be replacing it with an CS868 when I get my money back, and most sites will price match geekbuying as I have no intention of ever using them again.
