I recently signed up to Uber with the WinterIsComing code seen on OzBargains which gave you your first ride free up to the value of $40.
I got a message confirming the $40 credit expiring end of July.
However, now after taking my first ride, they have charged me and when I complained I was told that discount voucher was for a specific event in Melbourne and the discount is only valid in Melbourne for a one week period.
What gets me is, they had my email address, they had my account where they could have left a message, they even had my mobile number, but nowhere was there any attempt by them to tell me I no longer had the $40 credit.
Should I take them to Fair Trading?
I too am in the same situation and had to find out the hard way! In correspondence with UBER to try and get a credit. The only reason I used UBER was to trial them out. The destination was only a 10 minute walk down the road.
Can anything be done about this?
