Steam: Half-Life Games 75% off (HL2 $2.49, Eps 1 & 2 $1.99 Each, Half Life Complete $9.99) USD

660

Old game and most people probably have it, but if you haven't played it yet then $2.50 is an absolute bargain for the amount of gameplay - cheaper than a latte and will last a lot longer! All HL and HL2 games are 75% off.

if only i could neg valve for abandoning half life 3 or at least making me wait a decade or two :(

    • +10

As a Valve employee, all I can say is that Ricochet 2 will be available very soon.

      • +2

that's nice, but please pass on the message to your bosses: WE WANT HALF-LIFE 3

        • +4

          WE WANT HALF-LIFE 3

Not to worry, we'll be sure to include some references to the Half-Life sequel in our upcoming Ricochet 2 game, including HL2 themed skin and weapon DLC's.

      • Will it also be available for linux / mac at the same time?

  • +3

I am so buying these. I pirated a copy years back and for my troubles my new laptop broke and then the disc was stolen during repair. Karma huh.

    Edit/ Bought complete.

    • +5

Ah, I remember pirating games, back before Steam made it easier & more convenient to buy games than to pirate them.

      Movie industry, take note…

      • For me it was a case of not being able to buy them, I was in a rural town and had no stores near by that sold PC games. At least not newer PC games.

  • its a shame the counterstrike games are not discounted, looks like I'm purchasing cs go at full price $15 lol

    • +4

      Wait for the summer sale.

    • +1

Other companies charge you $60 for games that are a lot worse, then proceed to charge you $15 for a 5 map DLC packs.

  • +14

These games are available on Steam.
    Steam comes from water.
    Water's chemical composition is H^2, O^1
    That's three molecules…
They're trying to tell us HL3 still about to release.

    • +7

      Three atoms. One molecule.

They will also release a bundle pack.

      • +3

Are you guys the script writers for national treasure? I can almost see nick cage saying that.

        • The nation of the USoA has 51 states. 5+1=6. Some people spend their lives looking for treasure. Half of 6 is 3. megaphat has confirmed Half Life 3.

  • Should I just go balls deep and be a big spender for the $10 complete pack or just settle for the $2.50 HF2.

    Decisions, decisions.

    • +1

Go complete, Ep 1 and 2 will take you to $9 anyway. I enjoyed those in Orange Box.

      • +2

You sir are a good salesman.

        • +8

You sir are an easy mark ;)

  • Does the 2.49$ half life 2 package come with both episode 1 and episode 2?

    • nope

  • great find, such good value. Seems the Steam server is getting hammered at the moment though as the purchase keeps erroring, but no drama

This deal appeared on Ozbargain on 10/07/2013.
    10-7=3
    2+0+1+3=6, 6 is divisible by 3.

    Confirmed.

    • +1

      10-7+2-0+1-3=3

  • I didnt spend much time with HL2 when I bought the Orange Box. Portal was amazing though and I spent nearly 200 hours with Team Fortress 2. I never really understood the fuss about Half Life though. Especially the last batch of levels of HL1 which were absolute crap.

    • +1

      Wha…. I don't even…

HL1 post Xen was pretty scary and awesome. Eerie as fsck. The jumping puzzles did get a bit excessive. :)

      • HL1 post-Black Mesa*

  • +4

Orange Box was the single best gaming purchase I ever made, even at full price years ago. Half-life, Team Fortress 2 and Portal all rank amongst the best games I've played in my 30 years as a gamer

    • +3

I've been playing games almost as long as you and I absolutely agree. Not just talking about dollar value, - I already had original Half-Life 2 at the time I got the Orange Box. I'm talking about getting a pack where every game is a classic, and you play every one of them thoroughly.

HL2 is not without its faults but it was/is a genre-defining master class in single-player FPSes, I played countless hours of TF2 through its various incarnations, and Portal was mind-blowing. Just don't play it hungover - I had to stop and walk away :)

  • Had a good feeling this was gonna be on special soon. Believe it not haven't played HL2. In for a good weekend methinks

  • +1

Considering how this deal expires on a Thursday (using American time for this), and how Summer Sales generally begin on Thursdays, we'll most likely see the big deals and the event itself go on once this Half-Life promotion has ended.

But this is just me with my tin-foil hat on.

  • +1

Also the Need for Speed games are on sale (ranging from $2.99 to $5.99) and Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box ($5.99)

    • Of course those prices are US only. I was interested in Shift 2 - on special for $5.99. BUT for us lucky Aussies it's only $23.99!

  • +5

Am i the only one who cant wait for the summer steam sales.

    • +2

I used to like them, now I already own the games I want on steam…

Who can be bothered waiting until the summer sales, I guess there might be an indie game I didn't know about.

    • +1

And there I was…staying up on the 4th of July to make sure I don't miss any of their Flash sales. :|

      • Yeah its best not predict what steam will do hahaha.

    • As a Steam noob I'm happy to wait for sales. In fact I'm becoming a tight wad in PlayStation gaming also due to the massive backlog and Plus.

dw I saw Half Life 3 confirmed on many facebook post and youtube comments,
    it'll arrive!

  • Half-life 2 is a bargain considering can resell your trading cards for 28-30cents each (4 x 25cent profit), so in reality its only $1.50

    • What trading cards are you referring to?

      • On steam, about 10 games support trading card games, the games drops 3-4 cards over 1-4 hours. They can then be sold on the market for 28 cents to $4 (foils).
Or can collect cards for silly profile and chat icons, really not worth investing time/money into.

I have made about $12 over last fortnight.

        • I got 6 cards on HL2 in two hours.

    • I was selling them for up to 80cents each only the other day (less than a week ago)

  • I want this but I'm scared to buy it. I purchased the recent Serious Sam humble bundle and I am truly addicted .. usually I rarely play games.

  • Would it better to wait for the Orange Box to go on sale, or to get HL:Complete and then just buy Portal in the summer sale?

    • +1

This has a lot more content that TOB but doesn't of course have Portal.

Playing HL2 now, can't believe this game is 9 years old. Looks great.

  • Yeah I have orange box on xbox and seriously contemplating whether I need the complete edition as well…
