Sulfate free shampoo and conditioner

I'm looking for that fancy sulfate free stuff.

Online with quick delivery would be preferable, but if there's any in store sales that would also work. I've used the l'oreal stuff before and found it ok, but am open to anything sulfate free.

  • I saw some on Beauty Bay a couple of days ago. They have free shipping and I have used them before without any problems. It's a UK site and prices are good.

  • Try Sukin, they make a nice range of shampoo & conditioners free from sulfates and a bunch of other stuff. Very reasonably priced, can often get on special from Chemist Warehouse

    • I tried them once before but didn't like the product at the time. It is a good price though, I might give them another shot.

  • What is wrong with sulfate? Cholesterol sulfate is naturally found in hair.

    • +1

It can cause skin irritation /flaky scalp.

    • It dries the shit out of your hair. Most of the sulfate free shampoos are also isopropyl/other alcohol free which is even worse for your hair.

  • Chemists usually sell them, OP, as do health food shops.

I have had good results with a brand called Beaver (har har) which I believe is manufactured in China. It contains argan oil, is safe for color treated hair and free of sulfates, phosphates and parabens. You can buy it on ebay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Argan-Oil-Beaver-Shampoo-Conditio…), from the manufacturer (http://shop.beaverprofessional.com/beaver-professional-argan…) where its a bit more expensive or you can buy it from an Australian importer for much cheaper (http://www.shoppinglane.com.au/index.php?id=1700&td=y).

    • Thanks, I think i'll give it a try!

      • Did you go with the Beaver? How did you find it?

  • +1 for Sukin.
More expensive than Sukin but lovely are Grown products. Also they are another Australian company and their bottles are gorgeous!
Occasionally you can find Grown on sale via Ozsale and chemists that stock them occasionally have "buy 1 get "x" free" promotions for them fairly regularly as well

    • I've used their skin cream for psoriasis and it is fantastic. Can't speak for the shampoo etc but they seem to be a good company.
