Discount voucher for Car hire in TASMANIA DEC 13 - JAN 14.

Good Day OZB Community,
I am looking for a Hire car in TAS for peek period between 27th December 2013 and 7th Jan, 2014. I am looking for a discount voucher to use to ease in the very high cost of car hire on the island. I don't really mind what company we go with, whatever is cheapest for a full size Auto vehicle (4 adults + 1 child with car seat travelling).
I have tried entertainment book vouchers, but they are void because of the travel period. RACQ give a slight discount ($26 off $880 Thrifty booking - almost a waste of time)… and i have managed to find a discount that will allow a 10% off discount coupon for defense personnel (one member travelling is defense).. But that is the best I have found.

Does anyone know of anything better?

    My tips would be check the airline website, as sometimes there are special offers for airline customers. Also would recommend visiting retailmenot.com and searching for all the major car hire companies there, often I have found some reasonable discounts there.

    Just try all the offer codes you can see that might be applicable until you find something :)

    From memory if you join the Budget or Avis corporate programs (Wizard/Fastbreak) rates are fixed regardless of season period etc, from memory this was the reason I originally joined - I could be wrong or their policies may have changed, any Budget or Avis employees out there please jump in. I tried my Budget Wizard log in with your dates and Hobart TAS and got the following:

    www.economycarrentals.com $772.40 for a VW Passat. I used these guys when I hired a car in Adelaide and they were the cheapest I could find. I then took out domestic travel insurance which covered the excess.
