Laptop for non-gamer

My sister is looking for a laptop to buy, she will mainly use it for word processing, and watching tv shows/movies (SD). Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a good laptop to buy for under $800.

COTD currently has this on sale http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/event/24614/product/asus-x-s… but not sure if it's any good?

Thanks.

  • You can do much better than that for the price.
20% off ASUS @ DSE might be worth looking at http://www.dicksmith.com.au/brand/asus/computers/laptops-not…

But if your budget goes up to 800 I'd get something with an SSD. make laptops so much better. I'll keep an eye out.

  • +1

Ignore all ivy bridge and go haswell for the great battery life!

  • I just bought a Lenovo i5 for work, online, and I'm quite happy with.
Lots of specials, and you can customize.
    Chek out their website.

  • Chromebook ARM. Use Google docs online for word processing. Watching tv shows, movies etc works fine.

Battery life is as good as a haswell, if not better.
