    • Cheers mate

  • If you like mac get the new macbook air. If you want windows most people will say wait until better haswell laptops are available coz they significantly increase battery life. One example of a haswell laptop is here for $750 http://www.megabuy.com.au/acer-aspire-v5-573-54204g50amm-win…, but it is an acer so YMMV, and there's no SSD. If you're willing to pay 1000 you want something with an SSD…

      There isn't much choice lol.

      • Not at that price point :P

    • thanks riczter, i get used to play with windows, how is the build quality with the low end Acer.
My first laptop is Acer which is nightmare to me.

      • Very little out there in terms of reviews on the acer. One person commented that the biggest bottleneck is the slow 5900rpm hard drive. I cant recommend SSDs strongly enough in a laptop.

Buy and replace with whatever SSD you want is my advice.

The basic Acer v5 is some $439 with mail in rebate it comes down to $359 or there abouts, plenty saved for a SSD but with all win8x's power saving modes and faster boot i dont know if its worth doing.

Inc touch screen, back lit keyboard and even in the dual core 997 its plenty fast enough. Yoi can go i3/i5 but i woudnt bother
