Recommendations for very low volume plan

Hi,
I'm interesting in thoughts for a very low volume mobile sim. Say 10 calls per month & 100M data.
The other main requirement is ability for international roaming (international roaming call cost doesn't matter as we try to just SMS).
Aldi Mobile looks good, but doesn't have international roaming.
So far Yatango PAYG & Gotalk Anytime look quite good.
Any thoughts on these or others to consider would be great.

  • for international roaming you are better off buying a local sim in the country you are visiting. roaming costs are exorbitant

tpg has a payg plan for $1/month, although the sim costs $20

    • +1

If they just receive SMSes there is no cost. This is useful if your bank requires two factor Internet login.

      • -2

int'l roaming you pay for incoming sms & calls

        • +2

Not true. Incoming SMS is always free. Incoming calls do cost. I know this from personal experience. I really have received an authentication code via SMS while overseas for no charge.

If you doubt this, go look up the International Rates for all the carriers you know. If you do find one that doesn't say Free for SMS Retrieval, tell us and we can boycott it.

    • never mind. tpg's payg plan is discontinued

  • I've got the thing for you mate

    http://www.vodafone.com.au/personal/prepaid/home/options/365

has international roaming and costs next to nothing - for the whole year.

    enjoy!

    • Only $20 a year, but they charge $2 per MB, so if you use 100MB is it not so cheap anymore (presumably you'd get $10/month datapack). Yatango is offering a free month and AFAICT Yatango PAYG and Gotalk Anytime have no monthly fees if you don't buy any optional packs, so either of those seem a much better choice than Vodafone for the OP, or even in general really. I have certainly made good use of Vodafones $20/year plan in the past though.

  • optus network, vaya.net.au have low data cap plans that are cheap

otherwise, aldi 365 day cgarge credit on telstra 3G

  • I've just signed up for Amaysim, and it's great.
There's a OzBargain WikiPage referral link too.

This is what they say about roaming:

  • Thanks for all the thoughts so far. I just noticed that Gotalk doesn't have roaming (nor does Aldi).
Amaysim & Yatango seem to have identical costs. Savvytel Lite seems the same too except 10c/min call cost (instead of 12c/min on Amaysim & Yatango).
    Anyone else to consider?
Are there any promos with Amaysim (or anyone else)?
What does using an Amaysim referal link offer?

    • $10 credit for both parties.

  • Yatango has extended its offer of a free SIM (previously expired 31st July) & still have 30 day free trial.
Anyone have any experience with them?
