Lenovo Warranty Support a bit Slack

I have a lenovo wireless remote keyboard I actually got from a deal here in December and it seems to be totally stuffed, although I think the problem is the usb dongle it came with is dead.

I called the lenovo support number about a week ago and they lodged a case which was good, have a reference number and all that but I called up about a week later to make sure I followed the process properly as I hadnt heard anything as yet.

The person I talked to was located in their office in America and said the person working on my case was on holiday at the moment. I did hope this would be resolved atleast where id get the nod to either send it back or get a replacement or whatever they do, by the end of the week but it seems like its going to take some time.

Has anyone else had any experience with lenovo? I have heard mostly bad news about service online about them but im wondering if they give a much lower priority to accessories and more attention to computers.

Seems a bit much to have to wait weeks just to see what theyre going to do, if they want to repair it it may take months! I use this device all the time and its getting to the stage where ive got to think about buying another wireless solution to be able to control the media PC.

  • I am typing this on a Lenovo laptop with a faulty delete key which has been waiting weeks for them to ship a keyboard. Unfortunately they seem to have just lost it in recent years.

  • Glad its not just me then. I never complain when something is being done, but even if it took a few weeks for a replacement or repair to take place that would be fine, I just hate it when its kindof dead time where nothing is happening. I have a lenovo tablet that has a faulty charging jack and ive heard that can take months to repair, it might have to be done though.

  • Now been 2 weeks since ive heard from them which is a bit unprofessional, would be nice to be emailed and say what they're planning to do at-least!

  • They double charged my cc for about $3000 12 months ago. They sent me 2GB ram as compensation, only trouble was they sent me desktop DIMM not SODIMM :((( They came good eventually.

I bought 4 notebooks. The i7 I got had dead pixels which they said was ok. Under four dead pixel is acceptable apparently. Not happy at this, but it seems common practice nowadays. Also the i7 HDD was missing a screw. Lenovo seemed to be very rushed and disorganized. I wouldn't buy from them again.

  • I've worked doing Lenovo warranty/service work within the last 12 months (not anymore) and I will never buy a Lenovo product because the service is terrible. Wrong parts, big delays. I've heard the company I worked for who lost the contract while I was there has won it back and lost it again within a week.

It wasn't just that company that was incompetent though, the jobs came from another company who were on par with regard to incompetence.

  • Super slack. They had my laptop for 3 months, never contacted me once - I had to follow up every time. After three months of stuffing around, they told me it couldn't be fixed and sent it back broken!

I love the t-line, but will absolutely never buy again based on the service experience. Appalling.

I will say the tech support people in the US (Durham, I think, or Raleigh) are pretty helpful and nice, but they can't do anything once you have a hardware issue, and the support in Australia was just a joke.

  • Unfortunately, Lenovo support is such a shambles at the moment (ever since they moved their call centre from Australia to the USA).

  • Has anyone noticed unauthorised transactions from Lenovo during a warranty claim? its only a small transaction but im still wondering how or why they took $1 out without permission, its been 8 months since the purchase on their site so they shouldnt have the details still anyway.
