Looking for advice regarding a recent mobo purchase...

Hi all,

I'm not quite sure what i can do at the moment… the story is i recently purchased an ASUS MIVE-Z from gocomp in QLD. Upon receiving it, i left it aside for a few days before attempting to swapping it into my comp, when i did get to doing it, i found 2 problems

  1. The CPU pins were bent (2 pins in different areas, 2nd bent pin was found when i was at the ASUS service center in Silverwater)
  2. The pins used to connect the board up to the case was bent (which i kinda fixed when i put the pins adapter provided onto it and kept it there for awhile)

Upon finding these problems, i thought i'd contact gocomp to see if i can get a refund or get it fixed. They told me that they can get it repaired for me but i would have to send them the board which would be at my expanses (they didn't specify so this assumption should be correct). I then found out that ASUS has a service center in Silverwater and asked if i could cut out the middle man and go to ASUS directly, the person from gocomp said that i can do so as they would have to send it in for repair anyway.

So off i went to the service center, which was actually a laptop service center, and i showed them the issues with the board. The person agreed to send it to their repair facility and have it assessed and repaired. They took the board and said that someone will contact me about it, after a week with no response from them, i called their help line, which does not do motherboards or GPUs, and i got put through to a person who then provided me with an email to contact.

I have sent my email off to the email provided, and it has been a couple of days and there is still no response. Is there anything i can do? I've been without my desktop for a two weeks now and i'm kinda desperate to get it back… I'm even thinking of buying another board and just writing this off, i don't want to… but i can't think of anything else other then to make it big which would make it even longer…

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

  • In my experience, Asus support is excellent. Had a Zenbook fixed under warranty at Silverwater and they were great about it. They can tell the mobo's providence by the serial number and likely know more about it than you do! :) I'd give them another few days, perhaps call them early next week. Good luck!

    • Cheers, might do that… although i just saw a SB-E with mobo combo for $600… so tempted… I guess i'll wait til Thursday… as it would officially be two week.

      • Indeed, I am selling that combo and it is very very very tempting.
