Hah, nice. Did the Beam even ever get released here?

  • Beam were sold in dick smith not long , and I have already bought the dock when they were $30 ….

  • Galaxy Beam was a interesting concept, but never really took off, because who needs a pocket projector on their phones?

    • Me. I would have really wanted one of these for travelling. Problem is the battery life and pixel count when using it as a projector.

Lie in bed with the projector on the headboard pointing towards the ceiling to watch movies, awesome! Just need more time for better batteries and for pico projectors to become more ubiquitous so that costs come down, fits in a slimmer package and pixel count + lumens go up.

Then again, I would probably prefer just a standalone pico projector that accepted an MHL or HDMI input. That way I could use the phone as a remote control or for surfing the web whilst watching movies on the ceiling.

  • Does it work on other phones?

So do I, but this is just a piece of plastic with a USB passthrough.

  • I just bought this. Hopefully I can hack it up to work with my Nexus 10.

You guys do realise that this is not a projector right.

It's essentially a glorified dock for you to prop your galaxy beam on.

and the amplifier is just a shaped hole in the dock…

  • After I picked it up, I realised "Oh, that's right". I had looked at these before. Stupid stupid stupid. Good thing it was only 5 bucks.

  • WOFTAM, received an sms that my online order was avaiable to pickup, treaked down the the store at lunch and was told the order was not in the system. A $5 bargain cost me around $42+ in time wasted.
