  • Try State Bank of India, Sydney.

    http://www.sbisyd.com.au/

They are good, I have been using them from a long time.

    • thanks…I'll check this out…will it only work from sydney…I am in MELB

      • They have a branch in Sydney. And they want you to authenticate your identity(one time) and then they would let you start transacting with them. Earlier, one had to drop in their branch to do that. But now they have tied up with Australia Post to do that. That way, I guess it would be possible in Melb also. Go thru their website, all things are mentioned there.

I tried Money2India and Remit2India before, but this is the best. They charge a 10$ transaction fee for every transaction though.

  • remit2india.com

  • +1

Open a Citibank account in Australia, load money in the card, go to India, find a Citibank ATM and draw. You can't beat this price, only limitation is the ATM withdrawing limits.

Not sure if you are referring to Rupee Checking account….I've that in Australia but gota tell you the rates they provide are not that good though….

  • Have you looked into ozforex.com.au ? I think they charge $15 per transaction but if I remember correct then your first transfer would be free…also their exchange rates seems good..

  • Try penny transfer www.pennytel.com.au

    rates are good

    • rates on Pennytel looks almost same as xe.com….that is impressive……have you used their services before

  • I use Currency Online http://www.currencyonline.com to transfer funds from NZ to Aus. It looks like they do Rupee. If you're doing higher amounts, there's no fees. They're very friendly to deal with if you ever need to call them.

    • wow…this one beats xe.com as well,,atleast looking at the rates frm their website….I will check this out….thanks

    • Is it available for australian residents ?

      • As far as I can tell there is no residency restriction. On the registration page it gives the option to select different countries of residence. I was in NZ when I set up my account so can't give a definitive answer, but they have a toll free Oz number you can call to check.

  • I have tried most of these in past 5-7 yrs. Started with ICICI's money2india, Indiatimes remit2india, OZFOREX, SBISYD, but finally settled with HIFX. They offer the best rates currently! Their markup is approx 50 paise to live market rate. The rate they provide on phone is much higher than what they show on their website for online trades. So better to confirm the trade on phone.

    • thanks…this looks good.

Are you saying call them to do transfer rather than online….their website says rates are updated every 6 seconds…

    • What's the best exchange rate have you ever got ?

  • Moneyindia service seems to be working!

  • Tried the transferwise app? PM me if you want a referral for a discount on your first transfer (I get a bonus too)
