you'd be much better off spending an extra couple of dollars and getting a CREE

    • Agree with you,. That is $3.95
      On the other hand,
We can get two of this for
      2*$1.49 = $2.98

You can get 2, but there is no comparison in the brightness…

Even my cheapest CREE is about 10 time brighter than the LED torches I have… Well worth the extra $2…

I assume you want a torch to light up something ????

        • Is battery life good compared to LED torches?

        • yes

        • Well said jv,
Another point is the battery, the one in this deal uses 3AAA, which is not as convenient as you will need to carry multiple batteries vs 1 battery for the CREE AA.
Charging is a problem if you have those 2 or 4 slot charger.
The battery holders for cheap torches are built poorly and plastic, they generally break easily which increases the chance of failure.
Changing the battery in the dark is a hassle with 3xAAA battery carriers, compared to just sliding in an AA battery.

        • Is battery life good compared to LED torches?

I have noticed much difference between the two… From an AA, it's probably around 30 minutes for either…

I use rechargeables now and just swap them over every week or so before they go flat…

… or wait for the next one to be posted on OzBargain, seems to be a new one every few days (week at the most).

      • sweet sweet cree.

    • yep, just wait a few days… there are a few stores that regularly discount them…

even a Q3 will be way brighter than this LED….

I have a couple of Q3's and couple of Q5's and there isn't really that much difference in brightness. I really like the tiny size of the Q3's too… I only carry the Q5 when I walk my dog in the evening down at the local park, it lights up the entire oval !!!

    • This one is $5.56, it has 3 modes instead of 1, high, normal and flashing.

If you don't need high out all the time, this is good choice as it increases the runtime significantly and cost a little more.
