Gotta agree with OzHunter, thats seems to be too much for what you need.
Since you want to get it for your kids as well, why not get an iPad. Definitely one of the more kid-friendlier tablets out there, and there is a wider range of apps available for iOS.
If your lucky, you could probably find an iPad 3 for cheap. I think DickSmith had a few, but you gotta check up on that. Otherwise, an iPad Mini isn't a bad choice either, though you may want to wait for the new iteration to be released.
On the other hand, the new 2013 Nexus 7 is a great choice. I find it hard to recommend Windows 8 tablets simply because your needs are too simple. If you were using it for work purposes or what not, then I would recommend them.
With the coupon, making it around the $400 mark, it's not that much more than any of the branded tablets. You will benefit greatly from running full Windows and the kids will learn how to use Windows (important life skill), as you can use this as a simple desktop computer.
Not going down the Apple path, just, don't like Apple.
Nexus was an option, I kinda wanted something similar to the home computer etc with Windows so they can make use of both just the same.. but kids will pick it up either way. Figured that the dell with office included for $460 was a good deal given office was like $180 or something. plus it would double up as a 2nd laptop of sorts…
That's overkill. The cheap chinese android ones would probably do that job.
