Good quality leather Bean bags around $100?

Where to buy a good quality leather Bean bag ?

We recently bought two bean bags from Kmart, they were leather look a likes and were well liked by everyone in the house until they opened in their seams in multiple places.

Ended up returning them back to kmart, unnecessary frustration and time wasted, the lady said she has never seen bean bags being returned, basically suggesting we didn't use it well.

I thought otherwise, I am after good quality Beanbags, basically leather / leather look-a-likes with good quality stitching that does not open in a few weeks of use. Hopefully I can get years out of the better ones.

Any suggestions on where to buy them from any links to better beanbags with long reputable warranties? I don't mind spending up to 100 $ give or take.

  • I've got a giant one I purchased a few years ago from an eBay seller. It was custom made with high grade automobile vinyl (looks like leather) by a guy specialising in automobile upholstery. I've seen those K-mart ones & got a few of the Big-W ones but this thing is beast, no signs of wear after 3 years. Doesn't look like he sells on eBay anymore but private msg if you're interested & might be able to sends some pics & contact details

  • About a month ago there was a king kahuna outlet in Victoria gardens (Melbourne), I have 4 king kahuna beanbags and they're excellent

  • I also bought a beanbag from King Kahuna a couple of months ago from their Maribyrnong outlet. I got fabric, but their were loads of other options their. Very good quality and they have a warranty on their bags for I think it was a year… Paid around $50.

  • for weatherproof cotton canvas consider http://crashmatstore.com
    else perhaps http://www.ambientlounge.com.au

  • OK thanks for the tips everyone,
    Especially

    Slknv

I am now the proud owner of 7 King Kahunas, they are Aussie made and 100 % awesome,

Bought from their store on Maribrynong road,

Pro Tip: If you want any particular one look up the same model on their ebay store and request the store person if he can match the price for you.

He did for us and we bought 7 All up , bought 5 first and then went back to get two more.

It's cheaper to get beans from the supermarket.

    • Hey dealman I'm interested as well in the quality. But I'm not based in Melbourne so I can't see them in person. What's the material like? And how is the size? Good enough to sit and read for long periods?

      • +1

Quality is really good, I bought all Vinyl ones as cloth ones accumulate hair.

The best I've seen so far, I just went to their store on the suggestion of Slknv and found the vinyl material to be thick and looking very durable,

A 100 % opposite of the Toilet paper thin material of Vinyl they sell for Beanbags at Kmart.

Also the stitching is not just normal double stitching(like Kmart) instead KK's have something like a plastic pipe/ tube all the way along the lining.

This is their ebay store and I bought several of the Swirl ones which are no longer online.

I also bought one of this which took about 3 full size bags of beans (1000 ——?some unit each)

I wouldn't recommend the two seater ones because if one person sits in them, all the beans just go over to one side and it's not very comfortable.

Size wise we bought the standard size (Only Back + Bum support), see the previous link, there is also a king size (Back + bum + Neck depending on how tall you are) but it would take up too much space for us.

I'd strongly recommend them as all come with a 1 Year warranty for stitching and use, and our experience in purchase was very good, if there are any issues they sound like a true Aussie company who will stand by their product.

PS: Ebay pricing is way cheaper than instore pricing so you are not missing anything by being out of town (except for shipping)

        • Thanks for such a detailed feedback!!

Yeh I was looking to replacing my fabric beanbag with vinyl since it would be easier to clean and comfort wise it would be better.

If you ever been to a university library some of them have a mini sofa looking beanbag (well the ones in UNSW) I tried to find something similar but proved hard I even sent a support ticket to ask them LOL but this looks like it will do :).

Moving the old beans to the new one is gonna be such a messy experience. Cloth + beans = static hell.

I'll keep an eye out on their ebay page. Thanks again!

        • hmm Yeah,
          Vinyl > Fabric
For fabric bags they recommend using an liner inside the bean bag. so you can take the beans out in the liner and wash the bag, I think he even said their fabric bags come with liners.

If you have a bag less vacuum and have lots of time you can transfer the beans direct as much as possible and transfer the rest through vacuum (After first cleaning the Vaccum container first.)

lol , to find the origin of beanbags look them up properly all over, King Kahunas have a label on them giving the name etc.
