Boori Cot

I know a few people have commented and posted with requests for fellow OzBargainers about baby stuff, so obvious due diligence is required: but …

wondering if anyone has used a Boori Country cot and any ideas where the cheapest would be for good quality wood of that sort thanks :)

Keeping it in Australia by buying Australian!

Thanks in advance..

      Keeping deforestation in Australia!

  • I have 3 boori country cots, they look good and are very strong, mine were bought on ebay $200 to $250 including mattresses, probally can re-sell at not much loss as they are sought after. wouldn't dream of making one.

I suppose you could buy a neglected one and recondition it if you were inclined.

  • We picked ours up on Gumtree 2 months ago. Got a Boori cot + Boori change table + Boori draw set all for $500. It is all about 4 years old but is as good as new, has a couple of little dings but that relaxes me as I don't have to be annoyed when our kid starts chewing on the wood!

    • Yep, kids will chew. You'll kick it accidentally and the cheap pine will scratch and dent.

      • Ha yes our baby hasnt arrived yet but I imagine that everything that we were once precious about will be bitten, knocked, kicked and scratched in the chaos of everyday life!

We had a great big Boori sleigh cot and I was surprised how cheaply made it was. The moving parts were cheap plastic, as opposed to expensive and hard wearing plastic. The lovely dark wood was pine.

After spending a fortune on the dearest baby stuff you can imagine ($1200 Danish bassinet made from organic cotton), I would now head straight to Ikea or Target and buy some quality but way cheaper stuff.

I know you'll feel like you'll be judged because you don't have the best; but God, I've got some dear stuff lying around the house now that I wish I didn't. $250 nappy change bag from Sweden.

When we sold our Boori cot, I took photos of every mark and scratch and the bidding on eBay was strong. When the lady turned up to buy it, she wanted a hundred off because she said it was marked.

Buy cheap and donate later. Even better. Buy old and check for lead paint. We all survived with it.
