    a tip on this
u can refill and save money
use a screwdriver and pry open the lid (it might break the plastic connectors a bit but i've done this around 10 times and haven't had any issues

    much cheaper than buy refills!

    • You can also drill a hole on top and cork it shut after refilling.

      • interesting
        might try that too!

    • I just use a normal kitchen knife and pry them off…

I bought a couple of refills just so I had the extra containers to swap straight over when they run out.

    • I refill them too. Save heaps that way. I use one of those spouts that bunnings has for free - the ones that go on tips of silicone and adhesive tubes. I cut the spout to size and fit it over a giant syringe. I can then poke the spout/syringe into the gasket on the soap bottle and squeeze in liquid soap.

I don't see this as a bargain, it's just wasting energy and batteries ….I mean really !!
Both units I got died half way through and second one on its second refill.
I got new batteries as the old ones died in a month ( 2 people in the house ) and more wasted time and more wasted resources ….Complete waste of time guys.

Just use a normal hand pump, your gunna wash your hands anyway so whatever germs on the top are gone. I just dont get it how we are so driven by marketing crap. I mean can you really live without a $1000 phone, or half the crap we have in our house…
We create more rubbish and pollution while others fill their pockets on all the crap we buy.

Ozbargain - you are not saving me money…. I keep on buying stuff because it's cheap and I may need it, or think I need it and never use it. I'm sure I'm not the only one here

Different people have different needs. When my hands are dirty with grease or oil, I'd rather minimize the things I have to touch. If I greased up the top of the bottle pump, the next person to use it will have grease on their fingers which is harder to remove than just normal dirt. It also looks unsightly - guests who come over would be wondering why the top of the soap bottle has oily black stains on it.

If the toilet at a busy park or gym had gooey dirty soap bars at the sink, would you use them?

    • it's not a bargain because you can buy it for cheaper elsewhere. Now , before you criticise the product just think of people with arthritis, this product makes handwashing a lot easier and less painful! With your logic, a hand pump is also a waste of money as you can buy the cheaper normal soap bars, or bette,r make your own traditional, organic olive oil soap bar from the olive tree in your yard :P

    • We have them all over the house, but personally, I am NOT a fan. They are slow to dispense, dispense a lot and refills cost heaps. (All of which I've rectified except for the speed of dispensing.) The only reason we have them is because I've been over ruled and SWMBO and kids love it.

IMHO, those foaming soap bottles are best for saving cash. When you refill those with regular liquid soap, they only need about a quarter of liquid soap and the rest must be H2O. In fact, if you try to use too much soap, it won't work.

      • I find the foaming ones only effective against light dirt. Really dirty or oily hands will take forever to clean with foaming soap.

        • Really dirty, especially grease and machine oils, I use dish detergent. Those ads were accurate when they claim they cut through grease. LOL.

        • Can you please tell me where I can get some of those foaming soap bottles? TIA

        • @ Coles, Woolworths etc, i found that the Palmolive bottles ones last much more than the Dettol ones

OP, can you add shipping costs in title? Also, the same item is on special at Coles 1x$8.99

  • Hi
Thanks for tips- I must say these are great- easy to use and limits the amounts kids use

They are easy to use, but I find them dreadfully slow dispensing the soap compared to normal pumps. Also, I've actually felt that it dispenses a greater amount of soap than I'm used to using. There is a hack where you flip over the internal flow guide and it reduces the dispensed soap a goodly amount. Takes all of 5 minutes to do.

Hang on, I found the youtube link

  • To completely minimise the spread of germs you'd have to have a sensor tap as well. I still use one of these though purely for the sci-fi hand washing experience.

  • Do these automatic soap pumps let you adjust the amount of soap delivered per activation?

  • ChemistWarehouse have had these on special a couple of times at $14 for 2.
