henry baxter boots are a good alternative to rm williams - same aussie-made quality but 100% aussie-owned and cheaper :)

  • Rays sell RM Williams too. Wait for a sale.

Some regional outfitters e.g. Horseland and other stockists are reasonably priced compared to City stores.

Off topic I've had mine for nearly 6 years and still going strong after wearing them 5 days a week.

  • There is a RM Williams outlet at Homebush that is open 7 days a week and has great bargains on boots. Ring them before you go to see if they have the style that you want.

  • There is also a RM Williams factory outlet at DFO essendon. The boots will have very minor marks but prices are around 40 to 50% off rrp.

As kellieed said theres a factory outlet at dfo but your in Sydney so that doesnt help (unless theres an outlet store there, someone else might be able to confirm?), but ive picked up some great deals there and at the outlet in harbourtown Perth in the past. Side note: I swear by RM Williams boots, i've worn them all my life and so has my whole family, I practically am never out of them unless its casual or with shorts, wear brown boots with jeans and black boots with a suit pant. If you take care of them, make sure you treat the leather and keep them polished they'll last for years, theyre extremely durable.

    • not in sydney.

  • Why are they so expensive?

    • They are Australian made. I don't have a pair, but I believe they are the type of boot that will last you about 20 years, and which then you would get someone to repair, not throw away.

      • also handmade from a single piece of leather

and of course brand premium :)

      • no boots will last 20 years even in storage :)

        • mine are almost there - have been re-soled of course :)

        • Mine are at 21 but they are in need of some TLC I admit. Pretty sure on the box they come in there is a picture of a pair some old farmer wore for 40 years!
