Jak & Daxter Trilogy PS VITA - Free for PSN+ Members

440

To those with PSN Plus membership, you can download Jak and Daxter Trilogy for PS Vita. It's not on the PSN Plus page so I thought I'd post it here so you don't miss out. The PS3 version is shown on the PSN+ Instant Game collection, but not for the PS Vita.

Enjoy!

Yeah, it's on the PSN page for me

        • Apologies OP, I didn't notice that it only showed the PS3 version :(

Cross-Buy – buy this product for PS3™ and get the PS Vita version at no additional cost

So, since we 'bought' the PS3 version we should already own the Vita one anyway? Oh well, no harm in buying this freebie too…

Indeedy. Same goes for Stealth Bastard (or w/e they called it on consoles)

  • they did a job porting it over to the vita unfortunately :(

they did a ____ job porting it over to the vita unfortunately :(

      poor?

Yeah, I'll lock in poor please Bob.

      • haha yes. dunno where that word went.

    • Hi Trumpedup, can you give us a link to the assessment of the Vita port? I notice Digital Foundry hasn't done one for this.

I was actually hoping it would be a perfect port with Naughty Dog producing (I realise they aren't developing though).

      • The problems are as follows (these are what I have noticed) the controls were not updated, there are still PS2 specific options within the game, the screen format was not adjusted (we get a zoomed in 16:9 taken from a 4:3 game so basically the top of the screen is cut off, you can't see yourself when you jump at times) the frame rate is poor at all times though sometimes even worse so.

That having been said, if you are a fan of the franchise you will probably be happy to overlook these annoyances (cos apart from the frame rate at times that is all they are, annoying, not game breaking)and get a lot of content and a good story.

I personally got these games free (inc the PS3 versions) on the Vita versions release day, there was a glitch on the store and the games showed up as free.

        • Regarding the pan n scan 16:9 mode though, is that any different on the PS3? That's how they were in the original PS2 games.

        • The controls were pretty bad too. All glitchy and laggy. The game feels like it runs at 15-20fps

The Jak and Daxter Trilogy listed on the Playstation Plus page is the PS3 version. Like the OP said, the Vita version isn't mentioned unless you search for it yourself. Good deal.

  • not a ps + member so unsure of this question, do the games stay on your psn after your subscription runs out? let alone is it only a monthly download to play as much as you like then they take it from you or?

    • You have access to it as long as you stay a ps+ member

Even if u stop and start again 6 months later ur games will still be available

      • So to better answer his question:

"do the games stay on your psn after your subscription runs out?"

As soon as your subscription runs out you cannot play the games. If in the future you re-subscribe, you can play them again.

        • And to answer it perfectly adequately for a third time,

PS Plus Member = CAN PLAY PS Plus games

Non Plus Member = CANNOT PLAY PS Plus games

The games do not ever disappear from your account, they are simply locked until you resubscribe to the service.

  • Thx for the post.
Definitely not just for the forums.
    Keep posting the psn deals.
( nobody complains about coke rewards deals being posted and im sure most readers dont collect coke tops)

  • Awesome deal thanks!

  • Excellent spot OP! I honestly thought they were just giving us the PS3 version, and there's no way I'd be playing this on the PS3 at home. But I'll probably run through all 3 on the Vita on the plane. :-D

The PS3 versions are a lot better tbh.

  • Yeah I wasn't sure if it warrants its own post but I'll post here anyways.

I was cruising the PS Store last night and noticed that Assassins Creed 1, 2 and Revelations were all free for PS+ members. I don't think Brotherhood was.

    • None of them (apart from 3) show up as free atm

      https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-au/search/f…

      • Yeah I noticed it wasn't like that online, but on the store (through the PS3) last night they were showing up as free for me at least, when viewed through the Assassin's Creed sale page.

        • It's possibly because there is a deal when you buy ASS 3 you get the others free. So they may only appear free after you download ASS 3.

        • That's a good point - I'm an Assassin's Creed fanatic and own all previous games so if it's not happening for everyone else it might be because I already own them all.

  • Cheers for posting this. Although chances are if I play through these it'll be on PS3, find something extra for free is always a good thing. :)
