Which is a Decent Portable Radio for Sporting Events

Hi guys,

I have bought, over the last couple of years about 4 different portable radios for the purpose of listening to sporting games (AFL and Cricket mainly) and each one is not worth a cent.

I bought a Sony, Panasonic, Philips and also one of those crappy ones you buy at the Merchandise store at the ground. They were all crap (to put it mildly.

What brand should I get, what model. Also should I go for a portable digital radio? Money is not an issue for me so long as I get something that actually works.

    Don't go digital, there is a 7-9 second delay which is pretty much unbearable for live sports. Sony make a really good one but it is on the pricey side. I guess maybe it's worth it if your sick of buying crap ones that are, well, crap.

    Not sure which Sony one you tried already but this one has never let me down. Ear plugs only. Unlike the other one mentioned.

    What is the issue you are having? Do you mean you want to pick up the TV commentary broadcast over those terrible one-ear sets?
    Sony, Panasonic and Philips are all reputable brands that should be producing well performing radios.
    I have used a Sony for years with good results, but it just does AM/FM:
