Downlights that are not GU10

Wondering if anyone here has insight into the future of downlights. I want to get some and I want to get MR16 (not GU10) lights because:

1: Can use single transformer for a number of lights, so I can invest in a good unit.

2: Low voltage wiring between lights for better safety.

3: Good quality transformer to reduce signal noise produced by bad imports.

However I have noticed that despite this more and more stock seems to be for GU10. Replacement globes are the same cost for both even though GU10 has the added transformer. What is with this? Is it better to suck it up and go with GU10 for better future replacement options?

Secondary question: In either system, do people have transformer recomendations for minimising radio interference?

  • I have GU10's with no transformers and MR16's with a single transformer each. I put some cheap led's in my GU10's and they are great.

I'm not sure how useful this is to me. Tried turning on an AM radio near these nights?

PS: This isn't a great measure, but it might give P3ACE an idea of the problems I am talking about.
