Advice about SIM Card for trip to USA

Hey all

we're travelling to USA for approximately 3 weeks in November - has anyone got any suggestions as to whether we purchase an international sim card online from here or is it easier just to go over there and do it?

We won't be making regular phone calls, may need a bit of data to search for directions though

Appreciate any advice

Thanks in advance!

  • Posts referenced above largely talk about TMobile which was of limited use to me for a recent trip to Hawaii due to coverage issues. Best solution for us was H20 who are an AT&T MVNO and have just added data to their pay as you go plans.

Our needs were to communicate amongst a group, use adhoc wireless data when wifi wasn't available and occasionally text back to Australia.

Using the H20 plan we were able to get by with USD$10 per person over two weeks and 2 days.

Also, in terms of getting the SIMs, I would strongly suggest ordering them using a provider on Amazon where you could pay as little as $0.08 to $1.00 delivered.

I had them delivered in advance to my first hotel, activiated using free wifi and popped them in my Aussie phone.
