    Tips on selling on ebay

    1. A well written description, include specifications, what accessories it includes, does it come in original packaging, shipping info, etc.

    2. Start your listing on a Sunday evening (6~10pm) and list it up for auction for 7 days. It will end on the following sunday night, which is the best time for auctions to end.

    3. Take some nice high-def photos of the tablet, using these guidelines. Upload them on the photo gallery on ebay (it's free) on a high enough resolution.

    4. Set it on Auction with a low starting price (1 dollar, cent). The low starting price will make your auction very attractive and will gather a lot of bids (higher bid numbers looks nicer on the search page). Don't worry the low starting price… people will bid it up closer to the end of the ending date.

    5. Offer an express post option.

You can also use Gumtree to sell… but beware of the scams and never ship the item until you have the money in your hand. Preferably, do registered post so you can track the item but as a general rule it's best to do face to face transactions.

    • thx scrimshaw for all details about selling on ebay, i will think about ebaY tonight and will see if i want to post it by tomorrow or not.

ebay, paypal and australia post will rort you like %14 of the total value plus postage & tracking. but you are more likely of getting a pretty fair price.

plus side of using ebay. you don't have to deal with any of the scumbags on gumtree, that will call up and say they are interested and get your address to come round and have a look and never show.

if you have had it less than a month you might want to check the returns policy & cooling off period. you might want to check it out anyway.

If it's a grey import you might actually get more on ebay than you actually paid for it. I have done this a few times with stuff i have bought o/s

    • scrimshaw seems to know whats going on. i usually post mine for $0.01 and hope for the best. and i usually am happy with the outcome, well i have never been unhappy about it. i heard 8.30pm sunday night is the optimum time to end your auction, but you might want to check out what competiton your against.

      • wow thats a great inside about selling on ebay, my tablet is original AU stock bought from harvey norman & hardly used. 14% is something i dont like about ebay & paypal.

i dont get how people on gumtree is thinking. they seems only want to buy at fractions

i listed my appletv 2 on gumtree for $299, not a single person interested for 2 weeks.
put on ebay, same words, same photos, in a week, sold at $380 plus $15 shipping.

    • Fractions???

      • i mean like half price or a third from whatever listing price you put.
a friend tried to sell printer for $10 and people still bargain $8 $5 etc

        • Yep, so true. Even if I don't choose "negotiable", I always get "What's your best price?". I now make sure I say in the body of the ad that the price is firm. If someone offers within ~5%, I'll probably accept it. I have had some good results on Gumtree, but as I list a lot of stuff in the Electronics category, it's off the first page pretty quick and I'm too much of a tightarse to pay for extras like Urgent, Top Ad or Bump Up.

  • missed the cut i was watching f1
