Should I buy a demo Hitachi 42" 3D 100Hz (LE42EC06AU) for $600?

Hi All,

The Hardly Normal near me has a demo Hitachi 42" FHD 100Hz 3D LED for ~$600, seems to be in good condition… is this a resonable deal (the closest price I can see is Bing Lee at $700 dlivered for a new unit)?

Is there any way to see how many hours the panel has been working for (service mode maybe?) and should this even matter?

They've offered a 5 year extended warranty for an extra $100 with replacement for a similar TV should anything go wrong (as Hitachi no longer makes TVs). Should I consider this?

Any help would be appreciated :)

  • Get the "replacement for new TV for 5 years if anything goes wrong" in writing, and go for it.

  • I'm not in the market for a 42" LCD but the price doesn't sound that great for what is essentially a refurb.
Also, Hitatchi TV's if I remember correctly were Chinese rebrands.. ie not actually a Hitachi product.
