My annual fee is coming up(woolworths cc), was wondering if anyone has had any luck getting the 16k bonus points added when calling and saying going to cancel. To keep your business
Considering swapping to the HSBC card ($199p.a) to get the 35k points and better rate on some things..
I would go platnium AMEX, but i got the discovery card (and still got) but enough places just dont take it :(
Need to say you are leaving, then they may offer to waive the fee (simply asking to waive the fee wont cut it) Make sure your balance is $0 before ringing, otherwise you can't 'leave'.
I've found it's better to have some balance owing and then call to find out what the payout amount is to close the account. It gives them some more urgency to stop you leaving.
I don't think there is any chance they will give you the 16k sign up bonus again. They'd probably rather see you leave than give the points out again (not to mention it probably breaks their partner agreement with QFF). At most they will waive your annual fee for the next year.
You may not be able to get the 35k bonus HSBC points as the Woolworth's card is also issued by HSBC.
Got confirmation from HSBC can get bonus points….
The HSBC Card is not a great deal. For 36500 points you can get a $250 Wish Card, which you'd think you'd be up by $50 but you need an additional 1500 points to cash it in. Everyday Rewards spend of $1530 plus?
Ok for a business traveller (2000 point minimum for a SYD MEL return etc.) - however, I do the same as Kingsville - ring up annually Woolworths and negotiate to waive the fee or i'm gone. Vote with your feet.
Well voted with my feet, I rang woolworths 2 times, 1 with a balance and 2nd with none,
They wouldnt have a bar of it, Oh well.. I feel so naked without my QFF credit card… luckym wont be needing for a while…
I haven't got bonus points, but every year I negotiated the annual fee to be waived (EDM card)
