Gloria Jeans-Denied a *free coffee* OLD loyalty card

Topic says it all….

I have collected 10 stamps/holes on my old loyalty card - from doing coffee runs for groups for months.
and today i went to get a *free coffee, i was told i couldn't use it because its *OLD
and they have a new system
Previously I was told by other GJ's its ok to use the *old loyalty card as not every gj has upgraded their system…

Obviously i am not happy… (me on the inside why rant rant why insert word why…. )

Seriously i didn't need any more stamps/holes, all they had to do to make me happy was giving me a free coffee
they told me to contact the Head Office for a free coffee

I am quite sure the loyalty cards don't have an expiry date, any one have similar experience?
Should i contact fair trading ? ACCC? :D

    Try another store?

You'd think they'd just give you the free coffee and be done with it. But if loyalty no longer applies there, get your coffee elsewhere. If the bottom line is so important, simply hit them where it hurts most by not giving them one more of your hard earned dollars.

    • I agree with sparkles, if they are so anal, go elsewhere. Not like they have a monopoly on good coffee.

If you write a letter to their head office, there's a good chance they'll send you a coupon or something for a free coffee. If head office refuses, then be the squeaky wheel on their social media - that'll usually fix the problem.

  • They had a lot of problems with there old loyalty cards (1000s of them got stolen and were being sold on ebay). so they canceled them. I bought 50 of them on ebay too. and I still have them. but no use.you wont be able to use them in any store now.

    • did you chargeback

I used to work at GJs, one of the selling points of the cards was that they never expired. We were asked to say this specifically. I'd say your have a case.

  • My Gloria jeans introduced the new card ages ago. I would guess 2 years.

Contact head office and claim your free coffee. I think it's fair given how long ago they were phased out. And it limits those people who got hold of the stolen cards.

  • in a side note, i had the same treatment from Michel's coffee in South Melbourne, they wouldn't accept the card all of a sudden even though I bought coffees from them several times a week. they told me they had a new smartphone app system and could no longer honour their old card — I just went to another outlet and used it instead. Ironically when I downloaded their app and set it up, they weren't able to give me any points anyway — so much for loyalty!

OP…have you ever considered that it may not be worth your time to take it any further.

A Coffee is $4, you have already spent more of your time pursuing this.
