Car Air cond Re-gas cost in sydney

Currently my Car needs the air cond re-gas, So I called up a few places in Sydney and the quotes I got from them ranging from $190 - $350.

I was a bit shocked with the quote prices as I remember it cost me $90 a couple of years ago for my old car.

Are those quote prices I got normal these days?

  • Carbon Car Systems in Blacktown was the last place I did mine, $140 all up from memory incl fixing a few issues with the A/C

  • I paid $150 here in Qld in July. Not that it fixed my problem. Now being quoted $2500 to fix it :( :(

    • $2500 due to leakage?

      • probalby needs a new compressor and god knows what in a euro car

i recommend against those 'gas and go' guys

better to go to a proper place who will fix the system or you'll be back six months later

  • $90 in dee why last year. The moment the carbon tax came in our local one went from $120 to $180. Which I was tempted to report but got lazy.

  • Yep, I managed to found the contact details of the place I re-gassed my old car and they quoted me $170…and when I asked why the massive increase, the guy simply said…carbon tax…

pfft, how is carbon tax gotta do with this?

    • Refrigerants are a very potent greenhouse gas, but I have a feeling there were some places being a bit unscrupulous in just how much the cost of their refrigerants ha gone up.
