Do you regularly send flowers... cheaply?

I would like to regularly send flowers to my clients for birthdays/get wells/births etc and would like to know if anyone else is already doing this?

It won't be an elaborate bouquet of roses but more a simple "thinking of you".

If yes, who do you use? what do you pay? anything else I need to know about the flower delivery business?

thanks, Cheap Steve

I don't know what line of work you are in, but in some companies this regular occurrence may be considered a form of bribing. Again, I don't know.

I personally think that unless you are in the REALLY high roller type industries, then this is way too much. Anything more than a sincere email or phone call would be a bit much. I would not do this for my clients.

If I got something like this (the industry I work in is fairly cheap), then I would be suspicious.

Ps. Sorry I can't answer the rest of the questions as I have never done such a thing.

      Bribery? flowers? what…. :O

    • Bribing? Um, not really.

This is very common in a lot of industries with ongoing relationships.

We have sent many bunches of flowers over the years to clients (never for birthdays, but for funerals/get wells/births for long term clients). Some clients have been with us for 20+ years - in our business we need to know intimate details of their lives, it would be cold hearted NOT to send a bunch of flowers in a lot of instances.

We don't do this kind of thing in bulk so we just use a local florist when we need it.

If he knows about his clients birthdays, sickness and births he must be close to them.

The ozbargain answer would be an e-card.

That's a tough one, but a great idea.

If your customers are local, what about partnering with a local florist - the win/win could be that you include their promo material, along with yours. To the receiver, that would be received well enough so long as the promo is subtle.. something like "Fresh flowers from <your company> delivered by the friendly people at <florist>".

If your able to get away from fresh products, like flowers that are time sensitive, you could send a care pack of something more robust by courier/APost at your convenience, which could be more economical to you. Maybe a pot, with a lid - soil inside with seed already planted and topped with a lid - something like "just add water and watch our relationship flourish.. (oh, that's not said very well, but you get the idea).

    Good luck!

I'm curious, what is your business?

  • Fruit basket?

anything else I need to know about the flower delivery business?

Whereabouts do you live? If you're anywhere near an area where there are growers, some of them will do deliveries, and you'll save a packet. You'll also know they'll be fresh.

  • I think flowers are the perfect gift for all occasions. also the most affordable gift at the moment depends on what area your in. if you need to send flowers to Melbourne let me know and I will tell you about the best price available here.

  • Depending where you are located and where your clients are located, there are small cheaper boutique style florist such as:

    http://www.littleflowers.com.au/

I've received and sent them a few items and I think they are a small but a great idea.
