  • Beat the heat you say! Does this blow hot or cold air on a hot and humid day?

    • The Intercept has a built in summer/winter switch to change the direction of airflow; but like other ceiling fans doesn't actually cool the air, just circulates it.

    • Masters don't have much stock nation-wide, and don't deliver. We also have a deal on the Intercept with the light fitting included (The Intercept also has timber blades.)

considering that you sell typhoon fans, you should already know that they are light adaptable - and that plastic blades are better than wooden

edit: i notice that you edited your comment while i was replying

        • Yeah, edited for clarity

        • +1

no worries - your intercept prices are (currently) cheaper than masters…

          welcome to ozbargain :)

I never found ceiling fans help at all during summer. All they do is move hot air around.

    • If you were human, you would perspire, and be cool by evaporation that increases with airflow.
A possible problem is if you live in an extremely humid climate.

But are these fans any better than the $40 fans I got from local shops?
Would be nice to see some specs on airflow, efficiency and noise. I'm not dumb enough to pay double the price just for a silly macho name. And "intercept" is not really something you want a ceiling fan to do.

      • But are these fans any better than the $40 fans I got from local shops?

unless you received a significant discount, i would guess yes, but the links in http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/82991 might help you :)

And "intercept" is not really something you want a ceiling fan to do.

Hunter Pacific Intercept… sounds more like a nuclear powered attack submarine!!!

      • Hunter Pacific are very well regarded for their build quality over other fans, and also come with a 2 year in-home warranty and additional 3 year motor warranty (5 years total)

  • does anybody know if we can install these fans by ourself in units or we need to engage electrician?
    how much do they cost?

    • define "need".

    • Long 'legal' answer, NO, you need a licensed electrician to install one as it runs off the mains!
Short 'non legal' answer, YES, I have. But you'd need a little nous with electrical and carpentry to do it.

  • Rep, I'm after a couple of Hunter Pacific 52" Typhoon Fan molded white blades. I don't see any on your website, any chance of doing a deal sometime soon (with or without lights).

  • Hi Rep - I've got a Mercartor (one failed, of three in the house) that spins at around 25% capacity on all speeds. Its not the controller cap (i've swapped that out) and its not the cap in the motor since it starts (CBB61 1.6uF). I'm not the original purchaser, so can't claim warranty..

Whats your recommendation? Have you seen this before and is there a fix you know of that is less than replacement cost?

At worst case, these look similar enough to not need to replace them all for asthetics…

    • Assuming you used the correct capacitor to replace, there's not much we can really recommend beyond replacing the entire fan.

We stock the Grange (a similar fan to the Intercept by Mercator) and can do you a deal on the cap or the entire fan; I'll PM you with both prices

      Thanks!

thanks - great service. I'll reply by PM.

  • Hi Rep
I'm looking at getting 8 fans in total to "fan" the house. Don't need a fan with a light so the Intercept 52" (white, no light) or Grange 52" (white, no light) would be perfect. Is the Intercept superior to the Grange or are they about the same.
I'm on the Gold Coast so pick up from Helensvale is no problem.

    Cheers.

    • typhoon is better than both and available for $135 delivered from here :)

      • +2

This is OzBargain isn't it? We could do that fan for $130 delivered (to metro areas) ;)

        • +1

          nice - i was expecting that :)

    • As I can't PM you, give us a call on (07) 55617400 if you'd like
We've got both fans on sale in-store, however I can give you a special Oz-Bargain price for either fan if you'd like to pickup from the store

      Thanks mate!
