    • Really? I still not receive mine yet! :( I ordered at Friday night! :(

  • My order status is just "in progress" on OfficeWorks online. Anyone got anything different?

  • I was told that they are due into their warehouse on the 8th and should arrive at my local store by the 11th.

    • which store is this?

  • Backordered for Sydney CBD Clarence St. No ETA when they will arrive. Went to store. they say the don't know until stock arrives

Waited 17 mins on that online support number. Gave up waiting.

    Should I cancel or not?

I also backordered for Clarence St. Same message I got when calling the 1300 number. Stock arrives in warehouse on 8th, expect to receive iPad by 11th/end of the week.

      • That's good news where did you hear about Stock arrives in warehouse on 8th?

  • Was also told that all backorders would be fulfilled by the 11th. Having second thoughts now, especially if the rumoured 64 bit processors are unveiled. Probably going to ask for a refund next week.

    • With only 1GB of RAM, a 64-bit tablet is largely a marketing excuse.

That said, 64-bit is the future of iOS 7.

  • i got a call today saying my mini iPad was ready for pick up, ordered it on Sunday night (in Perth)

  • Any news from office works whether they got the stock. Still waiting for Clarence st Sydney CBD store, have not heard anything at all…

as above 8th they meant to get the stock?

  • Dear PissLUR,

The iPad you have ordered is currently on backorder. We are expecting stock to arrive into our fullfillment centre this week . Once we receive further stock of your backorder, our system automatically releases it, therefore we are unfortunately unable to contact you once your order has dispatched. Should you wish to cancel your backorder, please contact our Customer Service Centre on 1300 633 423 and a Team Member will certainly assist you in doing so. A full credit for the cancelled backorder will then be generated back to you.
Payment of backorders is taken up front at the time of ordering to ensure shipment of your backorder without delay, once stock has been received into our Fulfilment Centre. Officeworks complies with all PCI and Credit Card privacy legislation and as such, does not store your credit card details once the initial order has been accepted.

I hope I have been of assistance. If there is anything further I can do for you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Which officeworks branch (and State) did you pick this up from?

It'd be helpful if members who received theirs could mention this, then we could get an idea of how well their distribution is coming along.

New iPad to be announced in just over a week and released next month - http://allthingsd.com/20131008/apple-will-hold-fall-ipad-eveā€¦

    Gonna cancel my order today.

Edit: All iPads apparently at warehouse now and going out to store for delivery/pick up tomorrow (VIC). I cancelled anyway.

    • +3

Yeah but not much changes and the price will be $200 more…

No release date in Aus yet, and it will run iOS 7 for sure.

For <$400 this is still good deal. I would think iPad 5 16GB wifi will cost $579+ (seeing iphone 5s prices went up comapre to 5, aus exchange gone down), that would be $200 worth of savings between gen 5 and 4

Currently iPad 4 - Officeworks price is $497, Apple $539

When I call up this morning mine is still on backorder and they said they haven't got any in yet, hope to be shipped by Friday??? I get different answers everyday :) Not sure if I should cancel and wait for the new one? But I only want to pay less than $400 for the retina screen…

    • < $400 is still a great price for a current or last-gen iPad.

If you have an iPad 2 and upgrading to the 4 (as I did), then I say don't bother. I see no speed difference (iOS 7), and the only noticeable difference I see with the retina screen is the icons. That and my ambient light sensor doesn't work quite the same (or at all?) as the 2. You can forget about buying non-genuine cheap lightening cables with iOS 7 too…

Will attempt to sell old iPad 2 for $300 and cover my losses.

      • is ipad 2 worth that much? $300?

  • I have just rang up to cancelled my order. I was told the item is in the delivery van to store in Victoria since this morning. I will wait for the Ipad 5 knowing it will cost me more but it will be the latest :).

Cancelled mine to. Impulse purchase - would have been happy had they delivered it last week - now had a chance to think about it and decided will wait for the new one and/or till my current iPad dies.

  • Picked up mine yesterday. Most frustrating experience with officeworks. Antipromotion. Mine was running ios7. Free spreadsheet and word as promised

    • Did you get a call that it was available for pickup? Or did you just show up the store hoping the stock was in? I still haven't heard from the store and I don't want to call up only to be on hold for 20mins…

    • How did you get spreadsheet and word for free?

      • It's the iWork package that he/she is referring to. Read page 1 of this post

    • Interesting. My one has iOS 6.1.3 running. I'm not upgrading as a jailbreak is just around the corner!

Got mine today from Chadstone Officeworks (VIC). Got a text from them earlier in the day, and got an email last night from them with a new Tax Invoice. Picked it up an hour back, and really glad its 6.1.3. Although a free copy of iWorks would've been nice. Guess you cant have it all!

  • Just checked online and My order status is "Completed".

Will just have to wait for the store to call when its ready for pick-up.

    Perth, WA.

    • Mine also says completed, yet when I call the store they say it isn't in yet.

      • yup. its on the way to the store.

  • Or just call the store? You would have specified it when you ordered

  • To those in the Melbourne region, if you are planning on cancelling the order, I would be interested in buying it…..picked up the ipad mini from OW, but now think I should have gone with the 4 instead.

    • +1

Too late as OW has confirmed they have cancelled mine. Yeah, the mini is not retina and you can easily tell. I am waiting for the mini 2 with retina.

Just got an SMS that its ready to be picked up @Perth OW …FINALLY!!!!

    • me too

      @Joondalup WA

  • So much for "all orders will be fulfilled by 11 Friday October". Rang the 1300 number at lunch and the lady on the line said that the order had arrived with Officeworks Dee Why at 12.02PM and had been signed off. I went to the store after work only to be told my order hadn't arrived yet. Utterly frustrated with this whole ordeal and I can't think of any legal recourse I can take to punish Officeworks for their inefficient, turn-of-the-century abomination of an e-commerce system.

  • Office works customer service is disgraceful. 20mins on hold with 1300 number, told its been dispatched to the store and is available for pickup. Call the store up to confirm and they kept trying to transfer me back to the 1300 number. Walked to the shop and was told it hasn't even been dispatched yet and no way was it arriving in the store today. 5:30pm, 2mins before my train arrives I got an sms to say my iPad was ready to be picked up. Luckily I wasn't on the train yet and was able to pick it up. At least my ordeal is finally over. Clarence st, Sydney.

wow. you guys need to calm down.

unless you have heard from the local store, dont come to them yet, its not ready regardless of what you heard from the OW call center.

to me, ow has been great.

  • Yeah agree OW inventory is hopeless. Chased up many times and they finally sent an email dispatched but no calls to pickup.

Called up told to get a call but never did.

Called a few times every few hours then finally got off work early to pickup one of 16 delivered from truck before 5 else they will not call at all.stock vanishes to thin air.

Happy got the iPad but nut happy about waiting times on phone and incompetent staff and stock handling.

    It's hopeless

Clearly very few people here have ever worked in a product call centre or in wholesale.
Let's just say that the stock is in OW's Sydney warehouse for a start (which we know it wasn't and they've had to wait for new stock) and has to get to a Melbourne suburb store.
    What happens is: you place your order; a work order is generated; the work order generally won't finalise until receipt of payment is cleared;
    So Monday, your w/o gets printed out in Sydney dispatch; someone pulls your stock, checks it off, prints a dispatch label and sticks it in a bay ready for collection. (First problem: the freight company collecting left only 10 minutes ago so we now have to wait until tomorrow for collection);
    Now Tuesday, item gets collected, but by the time he gets back to the Sydney freight depot with it, the guy that is suppose to take it to airport or truck depot for interstate transit is already gone;
Mid week Wed, item finally gets shipped interstate, but most freight movements are overnight,
So it's now Thurs and your item has probably only just made it to Melb airport or trucking depot. Hopefully it was unloaded and checked off in time so that the Melb based freight company can pick it up. If not, there's another day gone!
Friday, the Melb freight company finally gets it back to their depot.
Monday, (because there are no freight movements on weekends), it leaves the Melb depot and gets delivered to the store. Hopefully the store is not to busy to realise that the item delivered is a back order, enters it into their system and gets a chance to call you to come collect it! A whole week gone, just to move it less than 1000Kms!!!

Now this may sound extreme, but it's fairly common for items to take a week and sometimes longer before the store actually receives the item, even though it is marked as 'dispatched' from the warehouse! That's because it may end up going through 3 or more different freight companies before it gets to the store, (even worse if you live in the country or Tas). So don't blame the call centre or the store for what is usually a freight related issue!!! Just saying!

      yarda yarda

The stars must have been aligned for me - ordered on the Friday, picked up the following Tuesday

  • Got mine yesterday! Received an email saying in-store so I called local and they checked and said it was in!!! Seriously had 4 people in front of me picking up iPads and 2 behind! Staff told me they received 500 orders.. ORDERS. He told me some people ordered 16 & 20 iPads. Nice chap.. West Ryde, NSW.

Ended up buying 100 slimline DVD cases for $5 as well from clearance table.

    • lol 16 & 20 ipads must be someone buying and resell for profits on eBay!

  • My one was already running 6.1.3 can't jailbreak how sad

  • Its certainly worth the wait for those who are still waiting, especially at this price point. My biggest gripe is the customer service at Office Works. When I went to collect my order there was not a smile or an apology for the delays, there is no sense of customer service. Lift your game Office Works!!!

    • they have no knowledge of anything of that order.

they are just doing you a favour.

    • Another MSY company :)

  • I still have not received any updates of the order.

I went to the store @ Cannington,WA. He said he had no records of my order. He said I cant call the 1300 OFFICE from there as they are too busy.

Called the 1300 OFFICE. Advised that they dont know if the product is in Melbourne or someone in the sea on a boat. They would only know once it has arrived in Perth.

    Hope I receive it soon..

Guys, after seeing the new iPad air (ipad 5) shown up as $598, I think this deal was absoluately AMAZING!

That's $200 for a specs bump and slightly lighter.

    Not worth it iPad 5

    • it was worth the wait for delivery. Very happy the new old iPad 4. Thanks to the original poster for the deal.

Anyone seen anymore deals for the old model?

  • Does anyone have buyers remorse after hearing about the iPad air? Overall I'm happy with my purchase :)

    • Yes, but the other way around! I should have bought 2 more of these when this sale was on!
