Whatever you do don't get a WD portable. Portable hard drives are actually laptop hard drives, but most of the WD drives have a modified board making it a problem. For example if a seagate drive dies most of the time you can take the drive out of its enclosure and put it in a dock or in your PC to access the files. If a WD hdd dies your files are gone.
No matter what if it dies the only drives that you can resurrect files off are the ones without modified boards. In other words any company but WD. So sorry i can't really give suggestions. Just check officeworks and dick smith, they are most likely to have the best prices if you don't want to have to wait for it to arrive.

  • Hey, I personally would buy an internal HDD from MSY or the likes, and chuck it inside a cheap portable hard drive case. Like the poster above said, it's just an internal hard drive with a case. This would be the cheapest option and its not difficult to do.

  • get wd my passport 2TB

best portable drive on the market.
